Video flip through of our spread in @now.again Issue 5 ‘Cinema’. Thank you @now.again for creating such a beautiful issue, highlighting different aspects of cinema. It was a pleasure to have had the opportunity to create a surreal story about an object and focus on the craft of set design and prop making. Improper Etiquette continues! Thanx everyone for tuning in!🍽️

A look into our visual process for Improper Etiquette: The Pleasures of Absurd Politeness / FORK FEAST. A story we created for @now.again Issue 5 ‘Cinema’. We set the scene, we photographed and further treated the printed image with cutouts, cuts and scratches to amplify the gritty feelings of a forks mark making. In the process, we asked ourselves- what does a fork’s mark look like? We challenged ourselves to create as many different images as possible from photos of two main set ups. That led us to have various visual styles to choose from and these were the ones we loved the most, a more tactile scrap book touch. The first image displays our collection of forks, a portrait for each one, with corners of each image snipped as if it was inserted into the page.

A closer look at the tablescape and food props we created for Improper Etiquette: The Pleasures of Absurd Politeness / FORK FEAST. A story we created for @now.again Issue 5 ‘Cinema’ Set against a backdrop of a perverse and bloody landscape, the menu unfurls a surreal gastronomic spread, predominantly inedible. Served is the Main Dish, Knotty Jelly and two side dishes, Towering Peppers and Magenta Flesh. The eater demands a four course buffet to be served all at once, surrounded by delicacies that celebrate life and act as a reminder of death. The food is held hostage (shibari), tortured (pierced) and left for dead (bleeding out) providing pleasure and temporary joy before they are subjected to torture by the utensils. Photo and Sculptures by @tinyzin3 Image Descriptions: 1 & 2 - Tablescape, Eater’s Mouth POV 3 & 7 - Towering Peppers, Fresh crunchy red peppers served raw and shiny. Layered with a variation of crispy metal forks. 4 & 5 - Knotty Jelly, Slow cooked for six hours, this soft bouncy gelatin is infused with a variety of sweet fruits boiled to perfection and left to bleed. Served with edible silver rope knotted in shibari style. 8 - Chargrilled and skinned, this bright coloured delicacy comes with ultimate juiciness. Stabbed with crunchy four-tined metal forks.

A closer look at the fork sculptures we created for Improper Etiquette: The Pleasures of Absurd Politeness / FORK FEAST. A story we created for @now.again Issue 5 ‘Cinema’ Forks from the Fork world were designed to be a sentient eating weapon. 8 different fork designs, each representing a disfigured aftermath of chewing. We shaped and bent steel with intense fire, loud hammering, and welding processes to join parts and decorate. Finally, we grind it to become shiny and sharp objects. Reminiscent of a captivating transformation, the forks evolve from inanimate commodities to conscious entities that keenly feel every bite and act of consumption perpetrated by the Eater. Photo and Sculptures by @tinyzin3 Image Descriptions: 1-2. A three fold menu. Forks are displayed against a scuffed metal surface. 3. Forks violently chewed in the Eater’s mouth. Twisted and entangled into a rampage. (Version 1) 4-5. The forks laid upon a dusty landscape, armed with intricate thorns, foreshadowing the bloodbath that is about to take place. 6. Forks violently chewed in the Eater’s mouth. Twisted and entangled into a rampage. (Version 2)

A look at our pages for Now & Again’s 5th Issue, ‘Cinema’ @now.again Photo, Text and Sculptures by @tinyzin3 Text edited and published by @now.again The piece titled, Improper Etiquette: The Pleasures of Absurd Politeness / FORK FEAST is the second project in our Improper Etiquette series. This tale unfolds against a meticulously designed tablescape filled with red food props and handmade steel plates and forks. The prop —Forks—takes centre stage. It brings the viewer on a gastronomic journey of etiquette and grotesquery through a dual viewpoint of being the ‘Eater’ and the ‘Fork’. Each scene is a visual symphony, presenting a dual perspective: the Fork (Page Left) and the Eater (Page Right), mirroring one another. Various forks are presented as a menu, the starting point of every meal. The fork object in this piece consists of a mixture of readymades and forks that we fabricated by hand in the metal shop with steel. Spread descriptions: 1. STAB, CUT, CHEW- Fork vs Eater 2. FORK FEAST- Featured Forks 3. THE MENU- Fork vs Eater 4. TABLESCAPE- Fork vs Eater 5. INTRODUCTION PAGE
