‘A Crisis’ is the debut single from Equal Parts, out now on bandcamp and all streaming platforms.
The sound is focused, but coarse around its edges. Balanced with the perpetual drone of eager guitars and anthemic trumpet, a sense of tension stretches across the track. The spoken vocal places us in a bleak street, feet battling fatigue, leaning against the weight of the world. The contemplative lyrics are underpinned by triumphant instrumentation; a bold introduction from the new group.
Equal Parts are made up of members from local bands CLAMM and Floodlights.
A Crisis was recorded/mixed by Sam Harding and mastered by Mikey Young.
Some behind the scenes photos from Mug’s latest film clip for ‘From the Lookout’.
The self-directed clip sees Mug set sail in St Kilda harbour, then eventually ending up at the sleepy town of Port Fairy. Stylistically walking the plank of humour and sincerity, it lands somewhere in between.
