Jess Kallen a Californian artist and multi-instrumentalist, making raucous folk and folk-ish rock music. Their songs weave together nimble metaphors, infectious riffs, and a healthy dose of existential dread. Kallen has released several singles and two full length LP’s: their debut record Exotherm (2023), followed by their sophomore album DON’T BLINK! (2025) are out now via New Professor Music.

Through his original songs and idiosyncratic reimaginings of the American folk vernacular, @odinscottcoleman feels like the sort of musician your great-grandparents might have whooped and hollered for. Equipped with a banjo, a whistle worthy of working to, and a penchant for storytelling, Coleman spins a compelling yarn as he weaves together elements of country-blues, labor songs, and Appalachian folk ballads.

Described as “Disney after dark”, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer, Ricky Berger enchants audiences with her eclectic songwriting and haunting voice. Next up on the roster for our hoot on 1/30 at 6pm is @codyackors !! A good friend of the hoot, we’re excited to have him!! Cody Ackors. Born in San Antonio, TX. Lives in Los Angeles, CA. Occasional songwriter and guitarist.

First up on the roster for our next hoot is our dear friend @lukepelletier ! I met Luke a few years back and it been such a joy to get to know him and experience his art and music. The work he does in the music community is such an inspiration. Come out 1/30 and see for yourself!! Here’s a little bit about Luke: Luke was born in Tampa, Florida, the middle child. Luke grew up going from farm to farm, watching his dad shoe horses. On the weekends, his family would drive down to Lake Whales, where his father would enter hunting competitions. Those weekends were spent swimming in alligator filled ponds, riding ATVs, and looking for shade where he could find it. Luke moved to western North Carolina when he was 7 years old. During the long Appalachian summers of his childhood, he found himself running around with a ragtag group of of friends, skateboarding, playing in punk bands, throwing house shows, going swimming in the forest, chasing girls, getting into fights, making art, and longing for something bigger and stranger than the small town. Luke Pelletier set off for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2011. It was here that he studied under Karl Wirsum. He developed a deep appreciation for the Chicago Imagists and their approach to making art. Luke moved to Los Angeles right after school, where he met the painter, Kristen Liu-Wong, who he later married. Luke has traveled the world exhibiting his art. He’s shown his art in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Boston, Korea, Paris, Italy, and Germany. In 2021, Luke started “Back in the Garage,” with his brother, Tristan Pelletier. The project is a video session channel that has grown into live showcases and a thriving community. From this session channel, “Soggy Anvil Records” was born.

Our 5th Hilltop Hootenanny will be January 30th at 6pm!! This event we’ll be celebrating the birthday of our hostess with the mostest @rahrahrabbitmusic !! It’s going to be a great line up with @lukepelletier @codyackors @rickybergermusic @rahrahrabbitmusic and a surprise guest!!! It’ll be be a hoot!! Sliding scale donation of $5-$15 is suggested but no one is turned away for lack of funds. All ages. BYOB. This event is unfortunately not ADA accessible or childproofed. Parking is extremely limited.
