Sometimes you're sending out creative messages in a bottle with no response for years and sometimes things actually happen, and happen all at once. Well as you can probably see from my excited swarm of posts, this is the third fabulous thing that's unfolding in my illustration world at the moment 🤯🤩 (between baby and toddler life). The annual StoryArt Illustration Exhibit at Mt Coot-tha is an inspiring exhibition of usually-local picture book illustrators to show off their craft, from sketches to original artwork and often some little novelty merch in between. I'll be joining well-honed illustrators and artists
@gusgordonbooks @yvonnecmes @tinyowlworkshop @eyepicturedthis and
@mosokje for this event "Behind The Picture Books" with four books of my own. Presented by
@booklinksqldinc with these beautifully designed posters by fellow exhibitor
@eyepicturedthis , it's on at Richard Randall Art Studio, April 10-19th 🎨
I loved the words of fellow exhibitor
@mosokje
when painting an even more enticing picture of the experience:
🌸
Make it a lovely day out, have a look at the artwork, go for a leisurely stroll in the gardens. And whilst meandering through the herb and rose gardens, have a think about the lovely artwork you've just seen and which you obviously really want on your own walls (yes please, DO give in to temptation; it will no doubt add beauty, colour and happiness to your home).
And last but not least finish the day off with an icecream (yes chocolate flavour please). It surely can't get any better.
🌸
And if you're still in the infinite-messages-in-a-bottle stage, sometimes it lasts for ages, sometimes it's the very next one that lands something, and sometimes it's just a tough old test to see how much you want it and are willing to stick around and build your resilience. May your bottles come back!
