I have two homes now friends. Shreveport with babies and my personal practices (aka minding my biz, taking care of myself, practicing music, avoiding the toxic trap of small town Shreveport where, yes, some folks here really do want to dim the light of brilliant people ew ) and working the best job that ole Shreve has to offer (HONEYCOMB SALON!!!) 🍯 this place has my oldest friends and my fam who love me so much. But I have a home in New Orleans too…. this post is a TINY snippet of the rich life I have there… surrounded by the most talented people I’ve ever known….. absolutely not pictured are the two or maybe even three parades we marched in just two weeks ago. I’ve worked my entire adult years to have a life this rich. I earned it. I found my people AND it’s made me a better mama. This and more without a sip of alcohol and sober from nearly every dang thang (still have an SSRI to taper off of TMI) Forty years old and I’ve never felt more youthful and alive. So glad to have finally found a good balance and to have a partner and friends who have helped me be brave enough to make this nearly double-life leap. Thanks yall!

Happy winter solstice everyone ! Sagittarius season was awesome, super sad to see it go away but the goat must climb the mountain where the centaur can’t proceed, says wizard boyfriend Sam. Thankful to be alive. Thankful to have seen so many sweet faces! Thankful for reunions and music and masks and mask-making and mix-tape making and music making and alllll the magic that happened this month. As the longest night approaches, so do the longer days. Time to prepare for carnival and give this next year of the FIRE HORSE a winning chance. Ready for the genocide to end and the ice raids to stop. On this last advent Sunday, on this winter solstice, on this here end of birthday season, my prayer is peace and equality, forgiveness and new opportunities for the working class across the globe. My prayer is for all children to grow in safety and in love. Love you

Tuesday Oct 7 at 717 Crockett! 4-9! If you haven’t noticed, I make music but I don’t play shows much at all and I don’t release my music on platforms. I’ve released songs within art exhibits since 2011? I dunno. Every year or two, you’ll hear something I’ve created within the confines of specific time and space and then it disappears forever, staying only in the ether and memories of those present. Tuesday is your only chance to experience the “telephone” show where four artists played a game of telephone over the course of two years with their pieces….. make a piece, call the next artist, describe it, try to make what you think they described, call the next artist and describe that. Voila. I wrote a song for each series. Four songs. One night. Four phones. Come and hear !
This Saturday September 27 6-9 pm 717 Crockett street and October 7, 6-9pm at same location. • ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“Telephone is an exhibition about
human communication and the fidelity (or infidelity) of
ideas as imagery. Inspired by the children’s game ‘telephone’ we carried out a visual
experiment. Four artists began by making one original piece known as the” original message.”
In turn, each artist created a new work based only on a phone call description of the one before it. The final pieces are not exact copies but rather a series of interpretations, each one adding a new layer of meaning, misunderstanding, mystery.
Sound artist tiny alive built four sound installations in response to the final pieces of visual art in the telephone chain. The result is an auditory experience through
the receivers of analog telephones. Each song was written specially for each series of paintings.
Sound artist der liegesessel recorded Telesessions, a series of works on modular synthesiser examining the concept of entropy.
