overstimmed & underpaid (2025)
Found my groove with oils! It feels more like sculpting, carving out the shapes from the colour. One-sitting paintings keep me from getting too caught up in the details and overworking it. Limiting myself to one colour really helped in studying the shifts in value.
It was cool to see how the painting diverged from the reference. I didnโt have a plan for this and trusted the direction the painting was heading. Funny I ended up capturing an emotion that Iโm very familiar with. That feeling of complete exhaustion, feeling angry but sad and numb all at the same time. Heavy eyes and heavy brain.
