In residency @stiwdiomaelor nestled in the foothills of south Snowdonia (Eryri). It's a stunning place to be immersed within and the peace and quiet has helped me start to paint again. It's been a long while since I seriously picked up a brush. At the moment I am in the heat of the struggle, and feeling the fear but pressing on, trying not to overthink or overdo ... It's funny, I just realised how time and again I return to orange and turquoise, a colour combo in which I seem to find some sort of refuge or intuitive means of expression. I don't pretend to understand it. This piece of work still has far to go but it may never arrive anywhere so I wanted to share some of its journey. #wip

#ArtInCornwall #ContemporaryArt #ArtExhibition #TheSea 25 April to 21 May 2026 Terre Verte Gallery Altarnun near Launceston PL15 7SJ  OPEN Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10am to 5pm Meet the Artists event, 4.00pm - 7.00pm Saturday 9th May. All welcome I'm so pleased to have some work included in this exciting new exhibition which presents an artists’ celebration of Rachel Carson's homage to the sea from the 1950s. Altarnun may be a small inland village but this show demonstrates how the sea reaches every one of us, and sixteen artists - painters, printers, installation and assemblage makers, photographers and sculptors - lead us, each with their own interest and exploration of the life of the sea. In her hymn to the world's oceans, Rachel Carson called the sea 'the mother of life' and opened many human hearts and minds to the wonder and importance of sea life. This exhibition offers a tiny glimpse of this immense diversity - of lifeforms, moods, colours, vistas, relationships and mystery. A 1958 edition of her book sits at the centre of the exhibition and much of the work has been selected in the spirit of poet W.H.Auden's famous remark about being on the coast..... " When we look at the sea, all we are not, stares back at what we are." @terrevertegallery @camp_membership @creativekernowassociates

There's a big tree not far from our living room that's long been a home to barn owls. This year, they've hatched three fluffy babies so it's quite a tight squeeze in the nest. Today was all about helping this gorgeous little owlet find its way home after falling out. So pleased that Tam was able to climb🪜 ... I don't think I could have done it #owlet #beautifulnature #spring

Big thanks to the owners, George and Jackie Greengrass, for sharing the fruit of their labours, and to @cornwallwildlifetrust who never disappoint #spring #garden #cornwall #beautifulnature

#wip .. No meaning, no research, no deep thinking... I can't even call it exploring materiality, or expressive mark making. I just gave myself permission to put some paint and copper leaf on some board đź’Ş
