Welp, we did a thing: we bought an office šŸ˜¬šŸ’ø and you're looking at the soon-to-be home of @sequencela ✨ Man oh man have we fallen in love with Altadena and this little stretch, home to @amarakitchen , @cafe_de_leche , our favorite (Grateful Dead-themed) pizza joint @sidepie_ , and now, @miyaonlake . When we saw this place up for sale, we sorta knew it was the one (in the immortal words of Wayne Campbell, ā€œOh yes, she will be mineā€¦ā€). I mean, flaky-used-car-salesman-divorcee-seller and economic headwinds be damned, we're sailing forward! (CUT TO: immense regret...?) The plan is to transform this place into a creative oasis of sorts šŸļø you know how a lot of post-production houses are drab, stale, and depressing? Yeah, uh we don't want to do that. At all. The hope is to infuse this place with vibrancy, light, and life šŸ„šŸŒæšŸŒˆ This is also the beginning of a whole new chapter of what we do. There are some ambitious plans simmering that we hope to see through in the coming years, all about contributing to broader, more meaningful cultural aims, from audiovisual storytelling šŸ“½ļø to social cohesion šŸ«‚ and tangible goods šŸŽ I'm feeling... calm? (uh, what is this feeling?) Just soaking in the sensation of "this just feels right" and having never felt better about the incredibly talented and awesome people we have (and who are yet to join us) at @sequencela , who will get to hang and be a part of this little nook of the SGV. But most of all, I'm grateful for my amazingly supportive partner @chelseacartwright who's been by my side for this whole journey (and who will no doubt slay the design on this place). So yeah, get ready for some renovation pics šŸ‘·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ—ļø or maybe a whole lotta drama (or both!) Either way, things are about to get interesting 🫠

It is with great sadness that I share the news that Sir Winston Meaty Bismarck III has ascended to doggo heaven. I don’t even know where to begin, except the beginning ↓ When @chelseacartwright and I were apartment hunting in 2012, we stopped by a local sushi joint to discuss what we’d seen that day and of course, what dog would join us in our new abode. We got to talking about our mutual love for pugs, which caught the attention of a nosey individual at the table next to us. You know, the sort of solo diner where you're just bracing for when (and on what grounds) they're going to pry their way into your conversation. ā€œCan I tell you a secret about pugs? They snore and they fart a lot.ā€ We politely laughed, because what she didn’t know was that her comment would have the complete opposite of the intended effect. I mean, we were well aware of the many quirks of this breed, and their gaseous tendencies were certainly not going to deter us. Needless to say, this furry little cannonball would more than prove that woman’s ā€œsecretā€ true, farting and snoring his way to our hearts over the course of over 8 years. I know it’s clichĆ© but he was truly our best friend and loyal companion: he was there for our wedding, he joined us for road trips and desert hikes ( šŸŽ¶"Adventure Pug!"šŸŽ¶ had many melodies), he kept me occupied whilst I was a little too tipsy during 4th of July on the beach, he nestled between us under the covers at night (not satisfied with any other sleeping arrangements), and he gave us all the love and snugs we could ask for, forever okay with our occasional bouts of sloth. And with every snore and every toot, we only loved him more. For what he lacked in elegance and grace he made up for in pure, unadulterated affection. Yes, this grunting, frequently flatulent, deformed baby-wolf-pig reminded us that it’s often the imperfect things that bring us the most joy in our lives, and that help us understand what’s important and what it means to love and care for others. Winston, you were the real deal my friend. We’ll catch you on the other side āœŒļø

Feeling heartbroken and helpless. The unrelenting death and chaos of our moment is hard to grasp. But if you are privileged enough to be relatively unaffected, ask: what can I do? How can I help? Our law enforcement is lawless. Our healthcare system is careless. Our economy, tilted towards systemically subjugating and marginalizing already disadvantaged communities, is rotting at its roots. And as someone who cuts movies and promotional content for a living, it’s hard not to feel... useless. Which is why I want to put a call out to activists and organizations fighting for justice, equality, progress, hope, and solidarity, to offer pro bono A/V services to amplify their message. Please let others know, and feel free to reach out! And if you’re a writer, producer, director, editor, graphics artist, photographer, cinematographer, etc. ask yourself how you can wield the weapon of your craft to fight these forces; how you can use your pen, your mouse, or your lens as a beacon to shed light on our moment of darkness. Right now, it’s critical that we open our ears to the people and communities that deserve to be heard, for it’s hard to see injustice if we don’t first listen to the oppressed. And we have to start somewhere. šŸ“· @julythephotoguy

šŸŽ¶ you say it’s your birthday, da-na-na-na-na-naaa, na na šŸŽ¶ To the most amazing woman I’ve ever known: here’s to many more years of delicious foods, bizarre adventures, laughter, love, and joy. You motivate me, you inspire me, and well, you keep me in check. You’re beautiful. You’re talented. You’re fierce. You’re unapologetically you. And I couldn’t ask for more ā¤ļø

I’ve barely been in this office for 3 months and already have so much love for West Adams. As a creative agency I could’ve set up shop in any of the expected places: Hollywood, Culver City, Downtown… but having briefly lived on Adams in college, it felt like a homecoming of sorts and something drew me in. . This tight-knit corner of Los Angeles has such a rich and fascinating history. And like a lot of cities, it embodies a vibrant and eclectic mix of chaos and beauty; ever-changing, ever-evolving, ever-growing, and always bustling with fervent life. It’s experiencing a ā€œrevivalā€ of sorts and there’s a lot of excitement, sure, but there’s also a lot of unease. The specter of gentrification looms. And like most things in life, you can be a part of the problem or a part of the solution. Those who know me know which way I lean. . Reading more about what @nipseyhussle was trying to do for the nearby Crenshaw community has only inspired and motivated me more to find a way to give back to the neighborhood that has welcomed this awkward suburban white boy with open arms and an open heart. I still don’t know what that is or how it will take shape, but I’m determined to find a way to do my part to serve the community in whatever way I can. As the neighborhood continues to grow and change my only hope is that the people who are a part of that change do so with a conscience and awareness for everyone who has long called it their home. . @westadamsla @livewestadams @westadamsfamily if there’s anything I can do as an A/V creator or just plain human being, holler. . #westadams #westadamsla #losangeles

@chelseacartwright I ā¤ļø you more than you ā¤ļø state fairs and absurdly oversized fair food... and that’s no small feat, I mean, look at that face šŸ˜„

I sifted through terabytes of footage and pored over every article and think-piece I could to immerse myself in, and help craft a film about the wild world of this nascent technology. Thanks to @alxwinter , @rosariodawson , @geoffreyjamesclark , @futurismstudios , @singulardtv , and all the talented folks who made this thing happen šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»

ā€œI love people. That has made me what I am. You treat people with respect. You give them a big hug. I be happy. They be happy. That’s what it’s all about. A lot of the people I hug, I don’t know them. But that doesn’t matter. I make them feel important. I make them welcome. Everybody wants to feel the warmth. That’s what I want, too. For me. For everybody. Let me tell you a little secret: a little hug and a little smile, they go a long way.ā€ I’ve been thinking a lot about this man lately: Sarkis Tashjian, immigrant and son to Armenian genocide survivors, who for years fed hordes of hungry suburbanites greasy comfort food with a heaping side of unconditional love, myself included. He passed away this summer, but what a legacy he left, not because of the food (though it was damn delicious), but because of how he served the community. He was and still is an example for us all on how to live a life of generosity and open arms. Remember folks: a little hug and a little smile, they go a long way (šŸ“· @chicagosuntimes )
