We are devastated to announce the loss of Amara Kitchen Altadena to the Eaton Fire. While we are deeply grateful that our staff is safe, many of us have been displaced and evacuated from our homes. Never in 1 million years did we imagine this could happen to our team or our community. We are acutely aware of how many others in Los Angeles have been affected by this tragedy and are working with trusted partners to find ways to support ourselves and those around us during this challenging time. * In response to these events, we have created this GoFundMe to support our employees, many of whom face furloughs or significant reductions in hours due to immediate loss of work and revenue. * We are facing many difficult decisions in the coming days, but after ensuring the safety of our team, preserving their livelihood remains our highest priority. Supporting our employees is essential to the ethos of Amara Kitchen and who we are as a small, Latina-owned business. As a founder who is also native to Los Angeles, I am deeply to committed to supporting our diverse team of passionate, hard-working individuals who bring their unique skills and dedication to everything they do. Your support will allow us to continue empowering and uplifting our team as we navigate this crisis and work towards reopening. * As soon as we are able, we will begin the process of finding a new kitchen-ready space to reopen and resume serving our community. With your help, we hope to raise the necessary funds to keep our staff employed and build a stronger path forward during this uncertain time. * We are deeply grateful for our customers, family, friends, neighbors, and the wider community for the outpouring of love and support we received over the past few days. Amara Kitchen wouldnāt exist without you nor would we be able to employ nearly 50 amazing individuals. Your kindness, care and prayers mean in the world to us. * if youāre able to support us whether through a donation or by sharing our story, we would be incredibly thankful. Alternatively, weād love to welcome you to our Highland Park location, where we are eager to serve you nourishing, healthy food, made with love and hopeā¦.

Humanity bloomed on a powerful evening of Culinary and Community Experience at the ArtCenter Mullin Transportation Design Center in Pasadena @artcenteredu . In a heartfelt collaboration, Chef Amanda Freitag @chefamandaf (Chopped, Iron Chef America), Chef Paola Guasp (Owner @amarakitchen ), and Ms. Barbara Shay (Owner @thelittleredhencoffeeshop ) brought their culinary artistry to lifeāunited by a shared belief in food as a force for connection and healing.
Created and organized by ISS A/S and Guckenheimer, the evening featured silent and live auctions that raised over $100,000 for wildfire recovery efforts benefiting those impacted by the Eaton fires at ArtCenter and beyond. Special thanks to @ikeausa and Gustavo Tinajero for their generous commitment to re-furnish the workplaces of Amara Kitchen and Little Red Hen Coffee Shop.
The night was made even more poignant by ArtCenterās Everard Williams and James Meraz, who shared moving personal reflections. Everard spoke of yakisugiāa Japanese practice of charring wood to make it stronger. What seems like destruction, he reminded us, can become transformation.
This evening was more than a fundraiser. It was a celebration of community, resilience, and the beauty that can rise from adversity.
Thank you to everyone who made it possible. What a gift to be part of something so meaningful.

The Washington Post interviewed Chef and Owner Paola Guasp post fire. While we are still working to reorganize and recoup, we would like to thank our community for so much support, love and care over the last month, and for continuing to visit us at our Highland Park location. It has been such a comfort for us to see so many of our regulars from both locations continuing to nourish themselves at Amara. š«¶šÆ #amarakitchen #eatonfire
