šššš¤, šššš¤, šššš¤ by visual artist and vocalist Tianjun Li is an ongoing multi-channel video-sound project built upon wordless vocal performances spanning diverse geographies and timelines.
Operating within a contemporary climate of sociopolitical fracture and collective aphasia, the work attempts to unearth connections that bypass language and ideology entirely. Li embeds themself in site-specific locations from the Arctic Circle to the Mediterranean to initiate raw vocal dialogues with the immediate acoustic environment, and are continuously distributed across social media ecosystems, permeating digital firewalls. As these temporally and spatially scattered sonic events accumulate, they begin to respond to one another, gradually layering into a polyphonic choir driven by the primal intensity and the evolving landscapes.

Itās been a year since I collaborated with local children in Crete, creating the project āCloudcuckoolandā to reimagine the utopian city built by birds above the clouds, originally from The Birds by Aristophanes. And Iām grateful to be back again, bringing it back to the walls here in Greece.
For the next 4 weeks, Iāll be taking a bus from the Mediterranean all the way to the Arctic Ocean, with E75 Art Bus project by MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre, Kaltio, and the European Capital of Culture Oulu 2026.
