We opened Escalate at the European Juggling Convention in The Netherlands last night, to a crowd of 1500 jugglers. I dare to say it went well. Standing ovation and encore bow. Bucket list ✅ @ejc2025

MEL 🇦🇺 You might think you’ve seen juggling before, but this show defies everything you know. The performers—Melbourne’s own Byron Hutton, Richard Sullivan, and Samuel Kreusler (who also composed the live score)—deliver a performance so intricately timed, so effortlessly cool, that you forget you’re watching a circus act. The rhythm and musicality woven into each juggling sequence create a hypnotic, almost meditative atmosphere, while the performers’ energy bursts from the stage with each daring move. The show’s ability to blend complex juggling techniques with sleek, stylish choreography elevates it far beyond the usual circus fare, making it a standout performance of Melbourne Fringe 2024. The seamless integration of Kreusler’s live guitar only enhances the experience, with the music moving fluidly between percussive beats and driving electronica, matching the performers’ intensity. The result is a spectacle that’s as much about sound and atmosphere as it is about movement— we didn’t just watched Escalate, we felt it. Got to be @richardsullivan in Escalate by @throwcatchcollective for a week at the Zhangjiajie New Acrobatic Theatre Festival. It was a big week. Thanks @byron_hutton and @samuelkreusler for being patient while I slowly learnt every single catch in this hour of juggling. @garry_simmo made the show look fantastic under pretty gnarly conditions and @laureneisingerproducer did every single job you could care to mention. Can’t believe I get to work with these people!
