When you’re lecturing about being on time, only to have your ā€˜late’ student orchestrate the sweetest birthday ambush šŸ˜ First day of my 42nd journey around the sun, and my postgrad crew decided Advanced Digital Marketing should include a surprise lychee chantilly sponge cake! Such a beautiful night celebrating @roslynfoo at @askal.melb . We indulged in the PIYESTA ā€œAll Inā€ menu and every dish was packed with bold, vibrant Filipino flavours that kept us talking all night long. From chargrilled king prawns to the claypot rice, everything was absolutely incredible. Thank you so much to Jason @lssjas for surprising each of us with a bouquet of flowers. Such a thoughtful touch and the yellow blooms were just perfect for Roslyn. What a vibe, what a feast, and such a good catch up with all the girls. Belly full and hearts fuller. Happy birthday Roslyn. May you have the most wonderful celebrations with your Zhang Linghe / Marquis of Wu’an (Pursuit of Jade) and a year filled with love, laughter and beautiful memories ahead.

Tomorrow I turn 43, and today I want to honour 42. This past year gave me higher clarity on what really matters: peace, health, and purpose. How I feel in my body. How I show up in my work. How much capacity I have for the people and things I care about. I’ve learned so much in this last trip around the sun. šŸŽ­ Melbourne Comedy Festival 2026 wrapped, and what a season it was šŸ˜„ 6 shows attended. 5 reviewed. My most ever, and honestly the most fun I’ve had. Comedy is deceptively powerful. It’s one of the few art forms that can pull strangers into random rooms or iconic theatres, dissolve the awkward silence between them, and leave everyone feeling a little less alone. There’s something magnetic about a city that commits to laughter. Melbourne does it like nowhere else šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗ locals, interstate visitors, international guests, all converging on the same punchline. It’s a culture, a sense of belonging, and the kind of shared experience no algorithm can fully replicate. To everyone who read my reviews and sent kind words, thank you.
