Yah! New project online. Last year, I had the opportunity to create a short product video for Halbe-Rahmen. This involved a few flying picture-frames and floating felt-hands in a room designed to match the visual language and show how easy the magnetic frame is to use.

If you create XInvoices, it is advisable to validate them to ensure they can be processed by your customer. However, online validation tools have the disadvantage that you have to upload your invoice data. The solution: The offline validation tool from KoSIT (Koordinierungsstelle für IT-Standards). The XValidator script helps you complete the somewhat cumbersome process with just a few clicks directly from InDesign. It's useful and even better: it's free.

The feedback list of the script provides messages about everything that is important for creating an XRechnung. The colorcodes should help to distinguish the individual messages. Unfortunately, this does not guarantee that your invoice can be processed further. You should therefore always check it again with a viewer and, in the best case, run it through a validator. I will soon explain what this means and how it works.

The "XRechnung for Indesign" Script is divided into three areas: Settings, Feedback and the BT-list. The latter lists all the fields that an XInvoice can contain. Without these, there is no e-invoicing. But not all of them are required. Some (strange ones) are mandatory. To create e-invoices, it is therefore good to have heard of them. Detailed descriptions of the fields can also be easily found online. There is a relatively large amount of information available.

While I was trying to find a solution for the upcoming E-Invoicing Ordinance, at some point I decided to build my own solution for Adobe Indesign, which integrates seamlessly into my workflow. This has now become a decent tool. More refined and polished, it is now available to anyone looking for a simple native solution for Adobe Indesign.
The script exports XML XInvoices that can be processed electronically - just as an e-invoice should be. All you have to do is add the new "BT fields" to your own INDD invoice template. Once this has been done, not only can PDF invoices be generated as before, but the corresponding XInvoices can also be generated at the same time.
