i once felt that by having an account dedicated to reading, i’m expected to set an example to my fellow readers who follow me here. but turns out, it’s not like that. i know that sometimes by seeing other people’s posts about their monthly reading wrap up having like a ton of books can make some of us feel pressured, insecure even. but the joy of reading doesn’t really come from how much books you’ve read (although it does feel satisfying/pleasing/accomplishing). it comes from… well, reading. and enjoying your time while you’re reading. so to all my friends out there who might be feeling down because you’re not reading as much as you thought you would/expected yourself to, just know that i’m super duper proud of you. have a great day!!💌

normal people follows marianne and connell as they go on with their “will they, won’t they” state of affairs. connell, the popular and well-liked guy in school grows a secret and private connection with marianne, the lonely and unsocial girl. then, high school ended and they lost contact, yet maybe it was fate that made them reconnect, or maybe it was the need for each other that was vast they couldn’t stay away from each other for too long.
as college go by, we observe the pair as they keep circling back to each other even when they try to wander off to different directions and companies. maybe it was the familiarity between the two. but still, with their personal issues standing unaddressed in the background of one another, how far were they willing to lose themselves to each other? can people really change one another?
when i started this novel, i wasn’t looking for anything grand or extravagant. i guess “normal” was the expectation that i had set in my head. with the setting being in our everyday life, it was not hard to try to imagine myself in the environment. to be completely honest, there was not really a visible plot to this story, just two people trying to make it out in the world, yearning to be “normal”, yet somehow it left a deep impression within me after i finished it.
other than their personal problems, the lack of communication was one of the main factors of why marianne and connell kept going on and off. to be fair i quite understand them. with their pain and their inability to solve it in a healthy way inadvertently, i guess living in denial and purely avoiding it is the safest way to go.
i feel ambivalent about the growth of these characters. i didn’t quite see the development explicitly and the ending was not the closure that i expected. but i think that’s why this book felt very real. there was hope for them, individually, yet i desired for more!
this book was a big roller coaster of emotions & i’m hoping to read more of her work in the future <3

hii hello how was your september?? mine started out great but gradually went downhill and idk how that happened……
anyway, i was lucky enough to watch niki live for the second time (swipe right to see oceans & engines🤭🌊) and i had an amazing time!! just so you know i’m the #1 anaheim stan hehe
okay moving on, i read 3 books in september and my fav was definitely imagine me (4/5★). i wish i could read those books for the first time again, i don’t ever want to let them go aaahhh🥲🫶🏼
oh and i had time to watch a few things too!! my fav has got to be the wonderful story of henry sugar (i love wes anderson) <3 spectacular storytelling, i adored the whimsical and lowkey theatrical vibes, and it was pretty funny as well!! overall i’d rate it a 8.9/10🤍
september had its ups n downs, but i’m glad i made through it. i wholeheartedly hope october treats us well xx
