Fall sown seeds for spring blooms šŸ’œšŸŒøšŸ–¤ While these aren’t ALL the seeds I sowed in fall of 2025, these were some of the main characters featured in our garden and wedding! 1. Nimbus Sweet Peas from Johnny’s. The SoCal growing community are obsessed with this variety and I am the marketing president. Everyone who grows sweet peas should grow this gorgeous dark purple & grey moody princess. 2. Suzy Z by @uprising.seeds . My favorite deeet pea this year even more than Nimbus!! I will be growing her every year, I can’t get enough of the stunning burgundy mauve flake. 3. Just Jenny sweet peas by Uprising. Very cute dark juicy grapey purple with sweet ruffles. Loved her but will pause growing her next year. 4. Scabiosa Dark knight. These actually didn’t bloom in time for wedding but are so dang precious for me now in May. I will sow later next year (Dec/Jan) if mine don’t overwinter. 5. Scabiosa starflower. (Not pictured in seed packet photo) cute little baby blue stars turn into gorgeous crunchy seed balls. These have been PROLIFIC for me after they started blooming in April. 6. Bachelors buttons in black. I planted from a few diff companies including @johnnys_seeds_official & @botanical_interests these have been super cute and fun! Though the stems are delicate. Will direct sow from now on (I tried both indoor/transplanting and DS this year) 7. Packets Not pictured but I grew three diff types of burgundy sweet peas this year. spring sunshine burgundy from the flower people seeds, Zinfandel from @reneesgardenseeds , & Hannah Dale from @thefarmhouseflowerfarm 8. Cerinthe! We grew a forest of this at my mom’s with pansy plugs in between. It was so cute and the hummingbirds loved it. Direct sowing also worked great so won’t start indoors again. You’ll also see Dara in a lot of these pics, but I’ll save that for a future post on which plugs I sowed in the fall! Overall I loved growing everything. We had heat waves in Feb and March this year in SoCal that really stunted the sweet pea growth. Nevertheless, our cool April is making them bloom on longer stronger stems! #zone10bgardening #localflowers #microfarming #regenerativegardening #sweetpeas

My decision five years ago to paint the sun room MAC N CHEESE / CHEDDAR / GOLDENROD was so validated today. These honey Dijon roses from @beeworthyfarms are absolutely scrumptious and loveeeee the camera. Special shoutout to the bronze fennel for being unexpectedly delightful to arrange with. . . . . I signed up for Beeworthy Farm’s bloom club this month for the 2026 season and we meet each Sunday morning to spend time on the flower farm, snip a bucket of blooms, and spend time together. It’s the exact thing my nervous system needed after frying it dead. It’s an impossible to not be present. . Listening to the birds, smelling the roses, crunching hay under my feet. I cannot recommend a visit to the farm enough. Support local growers! . . . I started gardening while deep in grief and it’s been a safe space since. Grief is not a fleeting emotion these days, and the garden doesn’t judge. It just is. It’s hard work, its connection to the earth, it is purpose, and most of all it’s a constant source of lessons. . . . Please enjoy this golden bouquet with some Jose Gonzales. #socalflorist #zone10bgardening #socalflowers #socalflowerfarmers #flowerfarmerflorist

Wedding flower growing update! The first seed was sown in September 2025. Across two gardens, my mom and I grew ranunculus, sweet peas, cerinthe, and a few other goodies. šŸ„€šŸŒøšŸŖ» On March 20, we had the most amazing wedding florals designed (and also grown!) by @frontyardflorals_sd . 🌸🌷With our three gardens harvest I couldn’t be more grateful and proud of being able to display our work and passion during my most special day. More pictures of the arranged flowers/special day to come. For now, please join me in drooling over the few harvest pics we did remember to take lol. 🐊Last pic is Arcana Lacquer Swamp Root (not my wedding nails, but the mani right after. though it would’ve slapped) #socalflowers #weddingflowers #zone10bgardening #microfarm #socalgarden

Obsessed is an understatement. The stem length makes no sense but I’m here for it. Please prepare for my garden to slowly transition to be 90% chocolate cosmos. And yes, they do smell sweet like šŸ«šŸ˜‹ . . . . The zinnias continue to pump out blooms despite being covered in powdery mildew, but I must make room for spring flowers. Please enjoy some of the last zinnia cuts of 2025, thoughtfully arranged for my mother in law Magdalena šŸ’•ā¤ļøšŸ¤šŸ§” . . Nails are Wildflowers by @cirquecolors , don’t you love how crusty the stem of that gorgeous zinnia is ? Reminder even if you feel crusty the whole journey because the odds are stacked against you (bc some lady planted u in the shade), you can still bloom so stunningly. 🌸 . . . . . . #zinnias #zone10b #zone10bgarden #localflowers #ocflorist #socalflowergarden #socalgarden #socalgardening

Join me as I embark on a journey to grow flowers for my spring 2026 wedding! Here’s the catch: most are black. šŸ–¤šŸ•·ļøšŸ¦‡šŸ˜ˆ . With the guidance of amazing local San Diego grower and florist @frontyardflorals_sd , I am growing alongside my wedding florist to use locally grown flowers for mine/Eddie’s wedding! Here’s some of what’s on the menu for my garden and my wonderful mom @stacy_m_nordstrom : 1. Ranunculus: using corms from Fleur Farm, we’re growing black ranunculus from both amandine and cloni success lines in Oceanside. (Aka right by the ranunculus capital of the universe @flowerfields ) . 2. Foxgloves! Super whimsical, super poisonous. No touchy, only looky. Anyone else relate? (Please cross all your fingers and toes that one or two bloom in March!) look up the Camelot varieties- their freckles 🄹 . 3. Pansies. Aka the creepiest most fabulous singing aunties of all time. This is 2026, pansies are cut flowers now. šŸ’…šŸ» plugs are from the garden club and are in the rose shades. (cannot WAIT to sow new three brothers seeds) . 4. Bachelors buttons. (In black of course) Look, they started blooming in their 4ā€ tray four weeks after being sowed. They’re in. Will be succession sowing for the next few months! . 5. Sweet peas: obviously. Last year around Christmas, @stacy_m_nordstrom and I ran outside in her backyard and sowed two packets in the dark. In June this year her garden was 97% sweet pea. We’ve got ten weeks head start this year, and are trying short-day varieties! Some of the varieties I’m most excited for are Nimbus, Suzy Z, and Hannah Dale. . 6. Lots of others!! Cerinthe, Scabiosa, strawflower, stock, daucus, and more! If you have ideas of goth or funky plants, I want to hear them! (I am slowly killing some alocasias, pitcher plant, and begonia but am determined to keep them alive!) . I’ll be sharing more about my process over the coming months so follow along if you’re interested in seeing a spaz grow a goth spring garden in SoCal zone 10b! šŸ‘½ . Got a storm warning this week so I ran out into the garden for some last-minute snips. My assistant TSA’d them all once inside. āœ”ļø
