I’ve had this bench since I was 16, I think? I started reupholstering it literally 2 days before my due date in February 🤭 my baby arrived a few days later and it sat in my studio for the last couple weeks. Slowly chipping away at it when I had the time. It’s the first personal project that I started and finished with my baby 💕 Material: @boy.chieftradingcompany blanket🪡 Model: my first baby, Kodak 🐶🐾

Completed my last workshop last night 🫣💕 Everyone did so amazing!!! Feeling really grateful right now for the constant support from Kahnawake 🤧❤️ to everyone who’s been reaching out… I will be back 🤭 keep your bananas peeled, I’m only taking 8 months off 👩🏽‍🍼 I wanna give a shout out to @kscskahnawake for backing these workshops over the last few years ✨I’ve grown so much being able to teach others to sew, and made so many amazing connections with people in the community. Kahnawake is really blessed to have community initiatives like the ones provided by KSCS 💕 I also want to shoutout @boy.chieftradingcompany on creating an avenue for indigenous artists and businesses to collaborate. It’s been so amazing to use their beautiful blankets to teach jacket making, and now bucket hats too!!! It gives an added touch of community building whenever I get to use their product in my workshops 💕

So much gratitude reflecting on this last jacket making workshop I did 🧥💕 I was able to teach two groups in early December and I learned so much with them (it was my first time teaching this type of jacket making workshop). Each group adjusted my existing short jacket pattern into a long jacket with a full liner and zipper🪡 It was a hefty five evenings of navigating time management and tweaking things so it could run more smoothly for future groups 😌 I’m always grateful for everyone’s patience and willingness to learn and persevere 💪🏽 and I’m most grateful for @wintergoodleaf , she’s helped me through some of my previous workshops and is insanely good at learning on the fly and keeping the group on track 🫡💕 Nia:wen to @kscskahnawake for funding this project 💕

We took an unforgettable journey to Red Sucker Lake Anisininew Nation, a remote fly-in community, to share music and creativity! ✈️🎤🧵 The incredible Indigenous artist @drezus performed for the community, and we caught up with fellow artist @stunthewriterz who joined him on stage! Plus, Threads by Thea hosted an inspiring coat-making workshop. Thank you to everyone in Red Sucker Lake Anisininew Nation for hosting us! @drezus @threadsbythea @vinceraquel @stunthewriterz

We travelled to Wasagamack Anisininew Nation with @wearecreatorspath , bringing together Drezus and Threads by Thea to spend time with the youth, share stories, and create together. In this episode: 🎤 @drezus was invited to speak about sobriety, share his life story, culture, and healing journey, and perform his music for the community. He spent time with students at Wasagamack First Nation School, answering questions and offering encouragement. 🧥 @threadsbythea led a coat-making workshop, guiding youth through hands-on creativity and design, and showing how fashion can carry culture, pride, and story. These are the moments that remind us why we do this work – sitting in classrooms, laughing in the gym, listening to tough stories, and celebrating the strength of the youth and community. 💛 Big love and gratitude to the Prevention team, Marsha, Corinne, Chief and Council, Jordan, Shawn, and everyone at the school who welcomed us, listened, and shared with us. We’re honoured to walk alongside you and can’t wait to be back. ✊🏽🎶 Filmed and edited by @vinceraquel
