The wonderful print has just flown into the Thought Press shop, from another of our OG printmakers: 'Bempton Gannets' by @shanesurgeyart Shane said that his print is "inspired by a  trip to Bempton Cliffs during the nesting season. The gannets looked amazing as they soared against the backdrop of the coastal features. This was complimented by a rather stunning sunny day weather wise." We love this new arrival on the Thought Press shop: 'Home Heart Angel' by @thepensivemaker Russ said: "Home is the place where we feel protected, at ease, and most ourselves. It gives us so much. I thought our home deserves to have those feelings too so what better than to give it its own guardian angel? I'm donating these six 'otters under a blue moon' screenprints to the brilliant @thoughtpressproject which has been running for a few years now. Each year they set a theme and ask printmakers to donate prints to raise money for the chosen charities. This year the theme is 'home is where the heart is' with all money raised going to @centrepointuk and @ediblerotherhithe 💚 These prints measure 21x21cm and have been screenprinted in multiple layers on to 320 gsm Khadi paper. Each one is slightly different as some of the ink layers are mixed on the screen whilst printing. If these aren't for you you'll find a selection of beautiful prints on the @thoughtpressproject website and remember all the money raised goes to two fantastic charities so please support them if you can ❤️

Added some background colour and decided to print wet on wet to see what effect I would get. Background colour is free-rolled @essdee_uk water based printing ink in yellow and red 💛 ❤️ using Essdee brayer and second layer is black 🖤 oil based ink by @cranfieldcolours using a brayer from Pooki Presses. Another new print in the shop today, by one of our OG printmakers: 'Swifts at Chapel Milton' by @vickijordanart Vicki said: "'Swifts at Chapel Milton’ was inspired by an issue local to me, where swift nesting sites on the Chapel Milton viaduct had been cemented over during maintenance work by Network Rail. Swifts return to the same nesting sites year on year; if unable to access their nests they would not be able to breed and could die in their attempts to access the sites. Thankfully, after many emails, petitions & protests, Network Rail have now unblocked these nesting sites and the returning swifts can access their homes. Swifts are incredible birds, spending most of their lives in flight and landing only to nest. These returning swifts will have been flying for 9 months, all the way from Sub-Saharan Africa, to finally arrive home, a viaduct in Derbyshire. They therefore felt a very appropriate subject for the 'Home is where the heart is' theme." Thank you so much Vicki! 😍 . .
