I have spent so much time thinking about what’s next for Thistle Thistle. A big part of me feels so sad to be doing it without Katie. Every day in our home she would have a project sprawled across the floor, working on something completely new with the dogs curled in her lap. She would always say she could turn her inspiration on like a switch and just make stuff, and I was always blown away by that because that is not how my creativity works. Packing all the orders the last few months I felt close to her, but periods of it felt like something I had to be doing. Thinking more about it that’s not correct. Thistle Thistle is something I GET to do. I get to continue her legacy, and I get to keep doing something that took care of us and made us feel fulfilled. I want to keep going, and I want to share her work with everyone.
I’m going to open limited preorders again. I’m making a lot of pieces that have meaning to me, and I hope you find something you’ll love. I have included some selections that weren’t available in August, and due to silver being at an all time high I’ve had to limit some of the selections. A lot of the pieces haven’t gone up in price since 2020, and I want to make sure everyone can get something before I raise them. A run of Hand belts are available as well for those interested.
The orders from this winter went past the estimated time window because of the volume as well as organizing and running Katie’s Celebration of Life events, but I’m happy to say I got them all complete.
If you place an order, thank you so much I hope you love your piece, and I’m so happy that you have something to hold and cherish that she crafted for you. And thank you in advance for your patience
When Katie was sick, often I would go into our basement and make music for short bursts of time, I have a lot of incomplete demos of beats and compositions, and then I would airdrop them to her upstairs to listen to. this one I called dream skate.

Hi I’m Spain.
Thistle Thistle news:
I have opened things again for 1 week, and after that I will make, finish, and mail them all out to you. The lead time is going to be around 8-12 weeks. I am so fortunate to be supported and thought of by you all on here, and while I can never continue Thistle Thistle the way it was, I hope to keep going in a way that is manageable while honoring Katie’s creative work and memory. I hope you can grab something you love. The only limited item is Hand Belts, but if there is an overwhelming demand I will put more available just with a longer lead time. There are lots of pieces that I am not choosing to remake right now, either limited by my ability or the availability of the stones used in them.
The week of her birthday, October 13th, we will be having a Celebration of Life for Katie here in Providence. On October 12th there will be a music show with some musicians Katie loved where I’ll also be playing the Church of Hollow record that we made together, and starting on October 13th a collection of her originals and personal pieces will be available to view at Worlds Fair Gallery. I will have more details and flyers for these events as it gets closer.
You can get in touch with me here on my page @cluvdeego , I don’t check Katie’s Instagram messages and try not to post on there too often. Thank you. I love you. Please reach out if you feel like you need something.
Katie passed last night. The last two weeks have been filled to the brim with love and laughing and stories and tears while surrounded by her closest friends and family members. We spent a week at home in our bed with our dogs, and eventually moved to the Hope Hospice Center in Providence to better manage her pain and symptoms.
When the cancer didn’t respond to treatment and doctors recommended going home, it seemed like a weight had been lifted off Katie. She said she felt fulfilled, and loved, and that she had lived a full life. She accepted it, and showed me a grace and gratefulness that I could never imagine anyone having. The last few days at hospice she was sedated for comfort and quietly left us just before 11pm.
There’s no paragraph that would ever encapsulate who she is or how strongly we all feel about her, But hearing stories and ways you have been touched by her work and person are incredibly valuable and comforting. The community she built will continue to be united by her ability to talk and connect with every person she met or interacted with.
Katie will be cremated and come home to me. In lieu of a funeral or wake we will be organizing a celebration of life for her Birthday this year in October in the form of a gallery showing her work and life. There will also forever be a public place to visit and reflect at a local cemetery. I hope you will join us.
She expressed that I continue Thistle Thistle, and it will continue in one form or another. I feel that everyone should have an opportunity to carry a piece of her with them in their daily lives. Your support has brought us so much comfort and stability in our lives and I am forever grateful to all of you for the opportunity to see her and her art thrive to a point we only daydreamed it could reach.
If it applies to you, please schedule a mammogram
Dying is a very private and intimate thing so I just want to share this . I feel very fulfilled. I feel like I did great stuff with my life. I feel like I was a very prolific guy. And I feel proud of myself and what I have done . So here's something I said about my late father when I was taking medication for pain "I don't want to overcomplicate things, but we should probably call my dad so that he's here." He's been passed for five years. I am excited to see him again.
Take care of my true love Spain. He is the best person I am the luckiest person in the world that I got to share my life with him.
Happy GLORY release day to those who celebrate @perfumegenius I made some new pieces inspired by their amazing new album; I'll pop some in the jewelry section early next week~~~
Wet springy day here today, thinking about this giant @selkie dress that makes me feel like a large and handsome bird and the stone cottage I made a few years ago :,) did anyone else watch the Beatrix Potter animated vhs tapes when they were a kiddo?
Bloody blush // Victorian hand necklace ::: a silver severed hand wearing an elegant lace cuff. set with rhodolite garnet, a kind of pink garnet who’s name derives from the Greek “rhodon” meaning rose or rose-like. the perfect name for the bloody blush of spring through winter, the bitter cold, the warm sun, the wet earth sending forth little shoots of life that ever reach towards the light
Hieee last call for preorders today- including on these Death's Head Neckerchief Slides :::: im gonna close them this evening! Yes, we can have a little men's regency as a treat
