It’s a real full circle moment creating with this awesome band. @iamthebones and I go way back- 10 year olds riding bikes together along canals and Llanyrafon streets, teenage mischief , discovering our love of music over rental games from Blockbuster, and playing out first gigs in youth clubs to having the chance to create together decades later. Shell are one powerful quartet, a real band who bring their individual musical personalities together to create such a dense and emotional sound.
@drugchurch are currently opening for Deftones on their sold-out EU/UK tour. Tonight’s stop at @thecroftbristol (technically their night off) is their only headline show. The city has a great reputation for punk/hardcore and a network of grassroots venues, making it the perfect spot. It’s no wonder tickets sold out so quickly, given their popularity and the modest size of the club. I’m sure they could have easily sold out a much bigger space, but from my experience the best shows are almost always in the smallest venues. Support comes from @thisisshell.sw from South Wales and Bristol’s own @perp_walk I’d not seen Shell before, but have seen their name on some flyers, so know they’re playing in Bristol on a semi-regular basis. I’ve seen Perp Walk a number of times. Not only are they explosive live, but they’re quickly becoming known as Bristol’s best hardcore band. Kudos to @deadpunkpromo for curating such a thoughtful lineup. The flow is basically shoegaze, hardcore, and alternative punk.
