Sh*t gets real vulnerable at @sdweekly sometimes and this moment is no exception! I love improv so much cz it forces me to say exactly what the music evokes. These notes/chords screamt “Yearning, closeness, the feeling of being held tight and not wanting to be let go” and even scarier (for those of us still working on expressing their needs in real time) “the desire to ask for it” but it had to be done and this was the result! When two worlds collide!!! Singing at my favourite GALA night, during soundcheck with my trio and a @girlsoftheinternet song comes on, so naturally we vibe! Being a part of community has brought me so much joy, growth and love! I used to be petrified of responsibility but the more I put my community at the fore the greater my WHY becomes and thereto my resolve to move past any and all limiting beliefs I’ve housed in my being. Leadership seemed scary but it’s all service and that I can do.
It’s a blessing when incredible markers like the @londonjazzfest are there to look back on and track my journey. Big up the legends and giants that have come before us and may we be the bridge for new generations to thrive!!!

Gospel Affirmations is a workshop I’m facilitating at @areanoir ’s Wellness Weekender this Sunday, 22nd February, 3-4pm. I will be accompanied by the wonderfully talented @zoealexandria on keys 🎹 We will use affirmations and Gospel music to get our mind and heart set ready for the new week!
