Feeling much more like myself. October is always the winner. Plus this month Irvine told me he was having the best day of his like 4 times. So I’ve completed parenting now. All filmed on a dji nano.

10 years ago and I’ve been dining out on it ever since and I will continue for another 10. 2014 was a big year for me, I met my wife that year, started making some money as a freelancer instead of raiding my savings every month and I also got myself a team Scotland tracksuit. It actually feels like 10 mins ago, I thought I would do a little recap. I went in with the intention of 75/79/83kg. First snatch attempt, cut the pull, miss. No problem, I’ve missed my first snatch in a competition before. Second snatch, over corrected and over pulled. Ok, so bit of a problem, one go left. FUUUCCCCCCCK SAKE. I remember vividly @chickh50 rubbing my earlobes and saying without any doubt or panic on his face ‘this one is going to take some bottle, but you’ve got bottle’ and I was like, he is absolutely fucking mistaken. I have zero bottle. I have completely fucked it. I had played out bombing out in my head before, what is that going to feel like, but I was (am) super lucky to know the people who love me are still going to love me, it doesn’t really matter. I went out for my 3rd snatch and wanted to enjoy it. This might be the last one so soak it up and just try. And I managed to get it over my head and stand it up. Had you asked me a week before, I would 100% said that it would have missed it. The nice thing about sports is that they give you that opportunity to surprise yourself, sometimes you get to be proud of yourself, sometimes you’re disappointed, sometimes you’re a bit of both. I wasn’t the biggest fan of myself in 2014, most of my training had been fuelled by me wanting to prove something or right some wrong decisions. When I look back now, yes I’m super proud, but I think what Glasgow gave me was just liking myself a little more. Ps. My c&j were a little less dramatic, I was after that 100kg, but I was absolutely out of stuff. It was my 8th-ish weightlifting competition and I haven’t completed since. Perhaps @colettewill will eventually talk me into one. PPS. Happy birthday to @discover_training PPPs. Thank you for reading my ted talk.

Yesterday I ran really far. (G2E ultra, 57miles) I couldn’t have done with without the wonderful people I get to call my friends and family. I am so grateful. When I talked to my coach and friend about this earlier in the year, we had a 3 hour conversation where I managed to convince him that is was a good plan. The only lie I told him was that I wasn’t afraid of failure. But the fear of failure is absolutely what made me get out the door when I didn’t want to and overwhelmed me completely for the past two weeks. I would say this fear of failure was the hardest thing about the race. But I’m old enough to know that is the reason to do it. Thank you @discover_training for everything you do and all that you are. And your @megalonglegs84 for enduring most of that with you. Thank you to my sister @gill_giggles who seemed to the only one who didn’t think I was mad when I proposed the idea. Turns out she only actually Googled the race last week haha! Thank you to my training partner @jaedstew who ran in thunderstorms in berlin with me, got up at 4am on sat, inspired me with his balls out half marathon amongst so many things. Thank you to my fav @colettewill who has been a constant source of support for my whole athletic life. Thank you to the best training facility with the best people in the world @crossfitglasgow and my GH @alexanderdogei . Thank you to @f4ftherapy for all the positivity and body work. Thank you to @prlab for helping me get deep and use it. Thank you to @wedominatenutrition for making me eat carbs. @lynnecrossan @andrew_moorhouse1 for standing in the rain and champagne. @all__in__jen for never making me feel stupid. @janearmour85 for listening to my complaints. @eliza_rosew for making me like running in the first place. @tommyryanroche for making an ultra look easy @amacuist for saying that ‘aye no bother’ when I asked him if I could. Thank you to people who give up their weekends to volunteer at these kind of events, it’s amazing. Lastly, thank you to my wife who wouldn’t let me quit on a bad day, even when I was crying in the bath. Once you believed I could do it, I did too. I love you. @roguerunner210

I signed off my last edit of the year at 4.46pm today. I started 2021 feeling quite jaded about my work, but I’ve finished feeling super proud of the 72 films I’ve made. I’ve worked with lovely people, shot some really beautiful music, as edgy as possible corporate and lovely short documentaries. I took on a few projects that I really had to level up for and turns out that’s exactly what I needed. Even if I was freaking out in the middle of the night about them at the time. Thanks @roguerunner210 for putting up with that. The picture featured here is a band called @elir_music_ and I feel like it was the first shoot I had properly enjoyed in a really long time. I also met @jaedstew at this music video and I really mean it when I say that I could not have done a lot of these jobs without him. The best production assistant of all time. Thank you to everyone that kept me on the bus this year.
