We Gather, We Rise, We Fall, 2025, Lilu Hosking. This immersive robotic artwork is the final artwork for my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at @rmit_art@rmituniversity . This piece has three years of discovery in sound, video, sculpture, fashion and finally robotics.
This work has been one of my greatest teachers, I learnt lessons about what art means to me, how I can push myself, and the generosity of others when they let themselves enjoy the work.
It is showing again this week Sunday at the @yarrasculpturegallery opening from 2-4. And then for the next three weeks, I will be gallery sitting each Friday if you would like to come down and have a look.
Grandmother's Garb. These are works from a photo series I created during my undergrad. Fabric taken from the remnants of my grandmother's funky '80s fabric shop. Re-purposed and draped into historic-ish family portraits.
This fabric is precious to my family, and I was forbidden to cut it.
If you want to see more of my work, come to my grad show! Opening night Tuesday 18th, open till Sunday.
The time I worked on some nuclear testing equipment... wait, these are synthesisers!? Thank god @mess_ltd
Here are some photos from a series I made during my undergrad.
Remember Grad show next week!!!! Come and look at my robots!
Here is where I am at right now. A 4 hour painting. At this moment, I have worked up my stamina to keep painting without taking my butt out of the seat for about 4 hours. I still haven't really worked out how to come back to a painting, don't think I have the patience or the trust yet.

To my studio: Thank you for being a place where I coalesce and create. I put art on the walls for myself and my friends and they tell me which one is their favourite. A place where I know the wearabauts of anything and the scuffs in the floor tell me that I always reach for the same things.
My studio has let me expand my oyster and make the things I have dreamt of. Often literally, I work all day here and once I go home and sleep, I then see the solution of a problem in my dream.
This place has been so wonderful for me, but I am excited for when I can say that it was quaint and a good beginning. Because right now it feels like a wish slipping away.

Currawong eating my persimmons! This gauche and watercolour painting was for a dear friend of mine who has been in my life for a short time but will always mean lots to me, she just has too many adventures to get to! Showing her Melbourne was so wonderful because she saw the beauty in everything and helped me and my friends remember how good we have it.
She loves persimmons, and was sadly shocked how expensive they are in Australia. My family has a tree and in the autumn they were meant to fruit so I offered her some. I was not quick enough, currawongs (my favourite birds) had come and eaten them all. Ahh well, at least there is a story, and now a painting !
June-July work in progress. Usually when I paint with oil I get all excited and start painting all day everyday for a few days in a row, the excitement will then fade and my motivation will go dormant for the next few months.
Since oil takes so long to dry I usually have many pieces on the go, some are studies testing new techniques and some already have predestined places in my home.
I have found that I can never truly say something is done, by the time I am nearing "the end" of a project I have learnt more skills and am ready to fix everything I just did I try and leave those pieces alone and let them be time capsules for my different skill levels and what I was interested in.
Might I suggest inking and drawing boulders while watching 1920’s Chinese sewing tutorials, paired with a cup of hot chocolate. Whilst also reading ‘the place of tides’ for some complete multitasking bliss.
