š« Adam Brian Kaiser didnāt plan to be a chocolatier, at first.
Kaiser studied science at Queens College and earned his bachelorās degree in geology. He kicked off his career in NYC as an environmental consultant.
But after moving to #Syracuse five years ago, he started making bonbons as a hobby. When his wife and friends raved about his flavors, he toyed with the idea of creating a chocolate business.
āI wanted to do something I was passionate about, something I was excited to talk about,ā said Kaiser.
He quit his consulting job and launched @adambrianchocolat . š° Read his full story by @katrinatulloch on thisiscny.com and @syracusedotcom .
Here in @downtownsyracuse , national food chains arenāt gone for good, but theyāre dying a slow death. Have you noticed?
This is worth celebrating. š
How lucky we are that @wildflowers_syr took over the old Dunkin? @crooked_cattle stands where Starbucks once stood. @milanobeancafesyr took over the old Jimmy John's. All while our beloved local restaurants continue to thrive.
The slow death of downtown chains didnāt happen overnight. It reflects a nationwide trend as Americans lose their appetite for casual dining corporate chains.
Itās also the culmination of hard work from small business owners, forward-thinking developers and good city planning.
Every step in this direction frees Downtown Syracuse from the hellish sameness of everywhere else. š£š„š

š² Camillus Mayor Dick Waterman has been working for 10 years to develop a 5-mile biking and walking trail for the village to connect the Empire State Trail.
āItās going to be an extension of the Erie Canal system,ā Waterman said. āItās going to be a big deal. Itās going to help the village.ā
Now, the village has received a $180,000 grant from @OnondagaCounty to design the trail and complete a feasibility study.

A new 5-mile biking and walking trail could soon connect the Empire State Trail to Camillus and beyond.
The Village of Camillus was awarded a $180,000 grant from Onondaga County to complete a feasibility study and full design for a proposed trail that would start at Sims Store Museum on the Erie Canal and end at the historic Martisco Station Railway Museum.
āItās going to be an extension, or a tributary, of the Erie Canal system,ā Village of Camillus Mayor Dick Waterman said. āItās going to be a big deal. Itās going to help the village.ā
But Scott Stearns, a retired engineer working on the Camillus project, wants the trail to extend 20 miles longer ā through Marcellus and all the way to Otisco Lake.

ā±ļø Hollywood star Anne Hathaway hit the steps of the 2026 Met Gala wearing a custom Michael Kors dress, hand-painted by @petertmcg , an artist who was born and raised in Syracuse.
McGough, who graduated from Bishop Ludden in 1976, painted intricate Grecian patterns on the @MichaelKors dress which drew widespread attention at the star-studded event.
āI was happy to do it,ā said McGough in a phone call with syracuse.com and This is CNY. āIām a little bit taken aback by the brouhaha of it all.ā
The painstaking process required a week of painting intricate patterns on the silk and wool dress. McGough was inspired by the Grecian urns and statues at the Met, and the poem āOde on a Grecian Urnā by John Keats.
āSince the beginning of time, itās all storytelling,ā McGough said. āEverything is a story. How well one can tell a story, you know, thatās what the arts are.ā

šø Syracuse nightclub @benjamins1776 marks 15 years in Armory Square.
The large brick building at 314 South Franklin St. was the home of the Gray Brothers shoe factory for nearly a century. Then came the dancing shoes.
In 1991, siblings Michael and Eileen Heagerty turned it into something completely differentāClub Zodiac, Armory Square's first modern nightclub.
A few years later, they renamed it Styleen's Rhythm Palace, a much-missed icon of #Syracuse nightlife.
āMusic is the reason we opened the club,ā @heagertyeileen said in 1991. āWe did this to provide a place for live music and dancing.ā
After a flurry of new owners and rebrands, it finally became Benjamin's in 2011, and has held down that corner with music and dancing ever since.
Johnathan Croyle has the building's full history on @syracusedotcom and This is CNY. Link in bio!
