Seit 2011 sind C.A.R. regelmäßig zu Gast in Frankfurt – und jedes Mal bringen sie neue Klangwelten mit. Ursprünglich aus dem Jazz kommend, hat die Band längst ihren eigenen Sound zwischen Krautrock, Jazz-Rock und kosmischer Musik geschaffen.
Mit dabei: ihr aktuelles Album „Valonia“, gefeiert von der Presse und sogar mit einer eigenen Sendung im Deutschlandfunk gewürdigt.

🗓 C.A.R. live am 26. September in der Tonne
Die Band C.A.R. wurde 2011 von Johannes Klingebiel (Drums) und Kenn Hartwig (Bass, Effekte) in Köln gegründet. Ergänzt wird das Quartett durch Leonhard Huhn (Saxophon, Bassklarinette, Effekte) und Christian Lorenzen (Synthesizer, Rhodes). Seitdem hat sich ihr Stil vom experimentellen Jazz hin zu einer Mischung aus Krautrock und elektronischer Musik entwickelt.
C.A.R. haben bisher mehrere Alben veröffentlicht, zuletzt „Valonia“ (2025), das erste Werk mit Kompositionen aller vier Mitglieder, und mit „Valonia“ gehen sie 2025 auf Tour – am 26.09. live im Jazzclub Tonne, Dresden.

🗓 C.A.R. live on September 26 at Tonne
The band C.A.R. was founded in Cologne in 2011 by Johannes Klingebiel (drums) and Kenn Hartwig (bass, effects). The quartet is completed by Leonhard Huhn (saxophone, bass clarinet, effects) and Christian Lorenzen (synthesizer, Rhodes). Since then, their style has evolved from experimental jazz to a mixture of Krautrock and electronic music.
C.A.R. have released several albums to date, most recently “Valonia” (2025), the first work featuring compositions by all four members, and they will be touring with “Valonia” in 2025 – live at the Jazzclub Tonne, Dresden, on September 26.

Being a total C.A.R. fanboy today! I had the unique chance to work on their tune „Debo-See“ and turned it into a little 808 Detroit affair. This one is special to me since it’s not an everyday task to receive remix material from a kraut jazz band. Massive fun in the studio and now on the dancefloor. Also had a chance to listen to them live - go and check them out! Beautiful, real music and good people behind. I think I listened to „Debo-See“ in its original form like 17 times before I even started doing the mix. What a song. The whole album „Valonia“ is a treat and the remix package comes in hot & spicy including reworks by @motipwhite@daloworks@mariawildeis@halosaurmusic 🙌
On the gig front I will travel back to beautiful Istanbul today for the elder youth session at @thisisnot.a.popup with my friend @hbehmo and tomorrow my first Garbicz festival in Poland: Jedz, pij i popuszczaj pasa!

Die vierköpfige Jazz-Kraut-Band C.A.R. @thisiscarmusic (Köln/Berlin) hat die renommierte Vibrafonistin Evi Filippou @evi.feelippou (GR) ins Tour-Boot geholt und gemeinsam kutschieren sie uns weit hinaus in außergewöhnliche Klangwelten. Dort treffen wir den Labelgründer und Produzenten Jiony @jonajonjion (MEX), dessen fesselnder Live-Elektrosound uns mit 100 BPM durch wieder neue, fabelhafte Pforten schickt. Eingebettet werden die Live-Acts vom virtuosen Vitor @its_bitor am DJ-Pult.
