Two generations. Two battles. One belief. My dad’s been fighting thyroid cancer for 20 years. I fought kidney failure. Both of us turned our lives around through faith, discipline, and a plant-based lifestyle.Your body can heal when you give it the right fuel. #CKDAwareness #CancerSurvivor #PlantBasedHealing #KidneyHealth #FaithOverFear
In studio w/ @emsyrobinsonjr
I don’t usually write long posts here, but yesterday called for one.
I had my first photoshoot since my kidney transplant — at @artistuprising.studio with artist, producer, and musician @emsyrobinsonjr
I wasn’t sure how it would feel stepping back behind the lens. But the moment we started, the nerves gave way to pure excitement. Emsy leaned all the way in — trusting the process, collaborating freely, and giving the kind of energy that makes the work feel effortless. I had a @pinterest mood board ready before he even walked in, but his openness brought it to life in ways I couldn’t have planned.
Time disappeared. I found myself racing to capture as much as possible, fueled by how good it felt to be creating again. I even finished the edits the same day — and sent him a few more this morning because I couldn’t help myself.
What I carried home wasn’t just the joy of working with someone as genuine as Emsy. It was a reminder of why I love this work: giving people a chance to see themselves the way I see them — powerful, striking, and often greater than they realize.
Grateful for this start. Excited for what’s next. And if you’ve been thinking about booking a shoot — portraits, promo, or creative sessions — my door’s open. Let’s make something together.
Today is the day.
This morning, I’m undergoing a kidney transplant—something I’ve fought for over the last two years while doing everything I could to stay off dialysis. Now, I finally have a chance at a healthier future.
And it’s all because of the selfless act of an immediate family member, who has chosen to remain anonymous. They flew all the way from overseas, left their job, and put their life on pause just to give me this gift. No compensation. No guarantees. Just love.
Recovery will take time. I’ll be on medications for the rest of my life, and I’ll be unable to work while navigating weekly doctor visits and the daily demands of healing.
That’s why I started this GoFundMe—to help with medical costs, recovery expenses, and to also support my relative who traveled across the world to do this.
If you can give or share, I’d be incredibly grateful. Your support gives us both the space to heal.

Today is World Transplant Day — and I just got the official word: my kidney transplant is rescheduled and confirmed this month.
I’ve been living with stage 5 kidney disease, and this journey hasn’t been easy. But thanks to the selfless gift of — my living donor — I’ve been given a second chance at life.
In the U.S., over 100,000 people are still waiting for that same chance. One organ donor can save up to 8 lives. If you’ve ever considered becoming a donor, let today be the day you take that step.
This isn’t just my story — it’s the story of thousands. Let’s raise awareness and save lives.

The Marathon continues
🏁🏁🏁
I just found out yesterday that I have a match and will be getting a kidney transplant soon.
To honor this life-changing news, I wanted to share a song from my @thisiscabus project called “Borrowed Time,” which I released two years ago.
After everything I’ve been through over the past couple of years, this song holds an entirely new meaning for me.
I’m beyond grateful to my anonymous donor for this incredible second chance at life. I don’t take it for granted and promise to make the most of this opportunity as I move forward.
With gratitude,
Larry

God’s got me.
Much love, Larry
Thank you, @dallasobserver and @auntbananas , for sharing my story.
In a perfect world, I’d love for this story to be about just the music, but unfortunately, it’s bigger than that. I’m fighting for my life and need a kidney transplant—plain and simple.
I’m sharing my journey in the hope of finding a kidney donor. If this story resonates with you and you feel compelled to help, please consider filling out an application on my behalf (Laurence Gayao) at utswlivingdonor.org.
I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported me through this journey. Your calls, emails, texts, and DMs have meant more to me than I can express. I am forever grateful to all of you.
I remain hopeful and have faith that everything will work out—not on my timeline, but in God’s time.
LIFE UPDATE 🖤
If you’ve ever considered being a living kidney donor, you could help save not just my life, but someone else’s too through a Paired Kidney Exchange. Even if you’re not a match for me, this process allows you to donate to another recipient while their donor gives a kidney to me.
It’s a powerful way to make a difference. If you’re interested in learning more or helping in any way, feel free to reach out. Sharing this post can also go a long way.
Thank you in advance.
🖤
