Holley & JD changed how I view my job forever at @thinspacesweddings
Holley & JD are incredible. From our first consult, I was hooked on their love story—JD wrote in his journal “I’m going to marry Holley” the day he met her. 🥹 I knew their wedding film had to be special.
Their Charleston wedding was a winter wonderland dream. Holley poured love into every detail and made sure everyone felt celebrated. Even on their day, they kept asking if I needed anything. That’s who they are—thoughtful, generous, kind.
After their send-off, Holley’s dad stayed in the parking lot with my team, cracking jokes and thanking us as we packed up. That simple act said so much about their family and the woman Holley is.
Two months later, just before I finished their film, Holley texted me with heartbreaking news—her father had passed unexpectedly. She said she was so grateful to have video of him walking her down the aisle, giving a speech, dancing. It was one of the first things she reached for in her grief.
I wish this tragedy never happened—but I’m so thankful I could give them something to hold onto. They’ve watched their film hundreds of times now. It reminded me: I don’t just create pretty wedding films—I preserve legacies. Wedding films are a way to hear your loved ones laugh, see them cry, and feel their love again.
Sending all my love to Holley & JD’s family. Your story left a mark on me. 🤍

Mitchell was fully in his bachelor era down in Charleston, spending his weekends out on the water, until Eliana changed everything.
One of his friends asked if he could bring a girl from work along for a day on the water. Mitchell was hesitant, but said yes to this stranger tagging along.
At first sight, Eliana wasn’t like anyone he had met before. Her quiet confidence, kind demeanor, and sweet smile had him completely caught off guard. Before she left, he had already set up their first date and the rest was history.
When it came time for their engagement session, there was never really another option. It had to be on the water where their story began.
The entire evening felt effortless with the soundtrack of seagulls, humming engines, and wakes hitting the side of the boat. This was their element and they were completely at ease.
Sometimes the best things in life begin as saying yes to last minute invitations. Making room for surprises is making room for Thin Spaces to unfold.

On Sydney and Devin’s discovery call, they described their vision as vintage, tropical, and Asian Fusion. Honestly, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but they absolutely 100/10 delivered.
Their two day wedding celebration at The Pine in Charlotte felt less like a wedding and more like stepping into another world entirely.
The entire weekend was overflowing with laughter, movement, music, and energy. Every detail felt intentional. The room felt alive.
Their guests understood the assignment in the best possible way, and the atmosphere was electric from beginning to end.
One of the speeches described Sydney and Devin perfectly. Their friend shared that whenever they walk into a room, they carry celebrity energy. The kind of presence that draws people in effortlessly. And somehow, the fact that their first date was at Waffle House makes their story even better. From late night waffles to taking the world by storm together.
There are very few weddings where I truly feel transported somewhere else while documenting it, but this was one of them.

Guess where these detail photos were shot???
Right here in Charlotte, NC ✨
I hadn’t seen that many tropical florals since my time living in Southeast Asia.
Stepping into Sydney & Devin’s wedding felt like being transported somewhere far beyond the city.
Every guest arrived in full traditional Indian attire, and the energy was unmatched. Color, culture, and celebration layered into every moment.
I love when couples don’t just plan a wedding, they create a feeling.
And this one? A full experience full of color, dancing, and a party for the ages 🌺🔥
Just having a little fun with messy bun editing days 💁🏼♀️

Something everyone should know about first looks, and it’s not what you think:
A first look isn’t about the timeline. It’s about space.
A quiet moment to slow down. To breathe.
To feel the weight of what’s about to happen before the world steps in.
Some couples want that moment together before the aisle. Others want to save it for when everything becomes real during the ceremony.
No matter what you choose, I always encourage
having a first look with your dad.
That moment is often just as emotional, just as sacred, and just as fleeting.
A pause in the day where it’s not about timelines or guests, just a daddy feeling proud of his little girl.

5 years as a wedding photographer… here’s what I’ve learned:
1️⃣ Your energy is your productHow you show up will always be felt more than what you deliver. My aim is to bring upbeat energy to your day so you feel supported. And provide room for your personality to shine. I never want to be the photographer when people say, “we love our wedding album but our photographer….”
2️⃣ Busy is never the goalI used to be envious of photographers that shot 50+ weddings a year. I’ve realized that limiting the amount of weddings I take on allows me to have more creative energy and to make sure every couple is served well. It also allows me to step away from my business and travel the world which feeds my soul.
3️⃣ You don’t have to do it like everyone elseThe most powerful thing you can build is something that feels true to you. I used to try to force myself into a single type of wedding, but the truth is I love big weddings, micro weddings, culture weddings and everything in between.
4️⃣ Social media isn’t everythingReal connection will always outperform visibility. Not every wedding or moment is for the world to see. I care about satisfaction rate, not follower and like counts. Storytelling > Trends.
5️⃣ When in doubt, buy the expensive oneThis is something I wish someone told me. Cheaper flashes aren’t as bright and have a longer recycle time. Cheaper batteries don’t last as long. Cheaper camera bags don’t have adjustable straps. If I’m debating between two items, I automatically get the more expensive one knowing that it will make my life easier.
6️⃣ Community over competitionRunning a Buisness by yourself can be lonely. It is important to have a community of people in the industry. I am constantly learning from other shooters and I have the most fun creating beside them.
7️⃣ Rejection is a blessingI used to take every no personally. Now whenever I get a rejection email, I whisper “Thank You” out loud. It’s because now I have space to serve the people that I’m suppose to serve. When you have never had a bridezilla and every wedding day is a blast, it’s easy to let people go.
On our pre-wedding call, Kelly and Mike said,
“We don’t have anything planned for our Joshua Tree elopement… we just know we want you there to capture it.”
There’s something incredibly sacred about that kind of trust.
I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to fully describe the honor of being the only witness to moments this intimate. The quiet of a morning spent writing vows. A first look tucked into a canyon. Tearful “I do’s” in the stillness of a national park. Cold, star-filled walks as the night settles in.
Whether there are 500 guests or none at all, it is always a gift to be invited into a story like this.
My heart behind what I do is simple.
To make sure you feel served, deeply celebrated, and that your memories are preserved in a way that brings you right back to how it felt.
If you’re dreaming of something slow, intentional, and entirely your own… I would be honored to be there.
Brides, this will save you SO much stress on your wedding day with just this one tip:
Print your family photo list on the back of your ceremony program.
Even if your photographer has the list, this puts your guest at ease.
Everyone knows exactly when they’re needed
No one wanders off
No one has to be tracked down
And they know when their time is up to grab a drink or remove their kids to get a snack
Instead of spending 30+ minutes corralling people, you get that time back to celebrate, be present, and for more memories to unfold.
Prepare your guests for the experience you want to have.
Trust me after doing over 100 weddings, I feel like I need to share this with all brides.
