For the fourth year in a row, postgraduate students say UHI is the BEST in Scotland for student satisfaction! In the national 2025 Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey coordinated by Advance HE, we’ve achieved an overall satisfaction rate of 91%, the highest of any Scottish university, and an increase from last year’s 88%. This places us 7th in the UK, out of 102 participating institutions. “These results reflect the continued dedication of our staff and the strength of support we aim to offer all learners, including the range of ways in which we provide for and work with our postgraduate students. We remain committed to delivering flexible, high-quality postgraduate education that meets the diverse needs of our students, wherever they are based and however they study with us.” - Keith Smyth, Dean of Learning, Teaching and Students. Click the ‘news’ section linked in our bio to find out more. Airson a’ cheathramh bliadhna ann an sreath, tha oileanaich iar-cheumnach ag ràdh gur e UHI an t-Oilthigh as FHEÀRR ann an Alba airson sàsachd oileanach! Anns an t-Suirbhidh Eòlas Teagaisg Iar-cheumnach nàiseanta 2025 air a cho-òrdanachadh le Advance HE, tha sinn air ìre sàsachd iomlan de 91% a choileanadh, an ìre as àirde de oilthigh sam bith ann an Alba, agus àrdachadh bho 88% na bliadhna an-uiridh. Tha seo gar cur san 7mh àite san RA, a-mach à 102 ionad a tha a’ gabhail pàirt. “Tha na toraidhean seo a’ nochdadh dìcheall leantainneach ar luchd-obrach agus neart na taice a tha sinn ag amas air a thabhann do gach neach-ionnsachaidh, a’ gabhail a-steach an raon de dhòighean anns a bheil sinn a’ toirt seachad agus ag obair le ar n-oileanaich iar-cheumnach. Tha sinn fhathast dealasach a thaobh foghlam iar-cheumnach sùbailte, àrd-inbhe a lìbhrigeadh a choinnicheas ri feumalachdan eadar-mheasgte ar n-oileanaich, ge bith càite a bheil iad stèidhichte agus ge bith ciamar a bhios iad ag ionnsachadh còmhla rinn.” - Keith Smyth, Deadhan Ionnsachaidh, Teagaisg agus Oileanaich Cliog air an earrann ‘naidheachdan’ a tha ceangailte anns a’ bheatha-sgeul againn gus tuilleadh fhaighinn a-mach. #ThinkUHI #UHI #StudentSatisfaction #Postgraduate #University #PTES

Well done to Aaron Stevens, winner of the Most Developed Innovation Award, sponsored by @esbfcharity , at the 2026 UHI Business Competition! Aaron is a BSc (Hons) Applied Software student at @uhiinverness . His business idea, Shadows of Vahlvadell, is an independently created fantasy role-playing project centred on exploration, immersion and original world-building. “I entered the competition after seeing a friend win last year, so being able to take part and win myself this year felt surreal. Having something you made, something you're passionate about, recognised and rewarded is probably the most validating experience you could have. I'm extremely grateful to the staff, sponsors and organisers who made this possible, and I'll absolutely be encouraging my classmates to enter next year!” – Aaron Stevens 📸 Aaron with Professor Chris O’Neil, Principal and Chief Executive of UHI Inverness. Congratulations to Samantha Murray, winner of the Best Commercial Idea Award, sponsored by @royalbank , at the 2026 UHI Business Competition! Samantha is studying BA (Hons) Equine Business Management at @uhi_nwh , and runs Highland Equine Transportation & Services, based in Inverness. Recognising that travelling can be stressful for horses, her business idea focuses on improving equine transport with horse welfare in mind. “Taking part in the UHI Business Competition has really allowed my ideas to come to life. Having professionals take my ideas seriously and be so encouraging about my next steps has fuelled my ambition further. Being shortlisted, and then a prize winner, is beyond everything I ever thought I could achieve. I will continue to be passionate about my business and ideas, as the horses always come first.” – Samantha Murray 📸 Samantha with Anna MacBeath from the Royal Bank of Scotland. A bit late in posting this but a massive congratulations is due to 12 of our students from across our outdoor courses who completed their @paddlescot Paddlesport Instructor qualification a few weeks ago. We embed NGB courses like this within the UHI Perth and @qualifications.scotland units that make up our NQ Outdoor Activities & Leadership (L5) and NQ Coaching & Leading Adventure Sports (L6) college courses. Students on the HNC / HND Adventure Sports Coaching & Development can also access the same NGB courses which means our students quickly gain relevant employment in the outdoor sector both locally during term time and further afield during the summer season. @uhiperthsport @uhiperth @thinkuhi #thinkuhi #outdooreducation #adventuresportscoaching #outedlearn #paddlesport

Congratulations to Andrew French, winner of the Best Community Idea Award, sponsored by @whyte.mackay , at the 2026 UHI Business Competition! A BA (Hons) Interactive Media graduate and now Marketing and Communication Advisor at @uhimoray , Andrew impressed judges with his idea, Moray Indie Games Hub, an initiative designed to support indie game developers across Moray and the Highlands. “Winning this award means a lot. It’s a real vote of confidence not just in the idea, but in the creative potential of Moray and the wider Highlands. Thank you to UHI for supporting projects that genuinely focus on regional impact, wellbeing and innovation, and to everyone who encouraged feedback, questioned the idea, or helped shape it along the way." – Andrew French 📸 Andrew with Shane Healy, Distilling Director at Whyte & Mackay.
