Throughout the month of Ramadan, ThinkArt and Other Narratives are opening a space for collective expression on our walls, first invested during the talk "Reading Edward Said During the Genocide" with a poem by Mahmoud Darwish and stencil symbols of Palestinian resistance.
This invitation is a proposal to go beyond the tension between fixity and movement. Rather than a mere support, the wall opens up, becoming a passage, a site of fluidity. Words are inscribed and erased, forms layer upon one another, traces reappear and shift. What unfolds here does not remain confined to its surface: a dynamic emerges, where art, without relinquishing its opacity or symbolic charge, seeks to inhabit a history in the making.
In this quivering of the visible, it is not so much a question of producing an image as of experiencing what a gesture can do, measuring its imprint, its resonance, across space and time.

Tout au long du mois de Ramadan, ThinkArt et Other Narratives ouvrent un espace d’expression collective sur nos murs, initialement investis lors du talk "Reading Edward Said During the Genocide" avec une poésie de Mahmoud Darwish et des pochoirs de symboles de la résistance palestinienne.
Cette invitation est une proposition à dépasser la tension entre fixité et mouvement. Plutôt qu’un simple support, ce mur s’ouvre, devient un point de passage, un lieu de glissement. Les mots s’y inscrivent et s’y effacent, les formes s’y superposent, les traces s’y rejouent. Ce qui s’y déploie ne s’arrête pas à sa surface : une dynamique s’installe, où l’art, sans renoncer à son opacité ni à sa charge symbolique, cherche à faire corps avec une histoire en train de s’écrire.
Dans ce frémissement du visible, il ne s’agit pas tant de produire une image que d’éprouver ce que peut un geste, d’en mesurer l’empreinte, la résonance, à la fois dans l’espace et dans le temps.

L’œuvre de Yasmine Hadni s’articule autour d’une tension entre mémoire et réinvention, entre fidélité aux souvenirs et leur transformation à travers un langage visuel, sonore et narratif. Consciente des responsabilités liées à son appartenance à la bourgeoisie marocaine, elle engage son travail dans une réflexion où l’intime devient un prisme pour interroger les rapports de classe et les assignations sociales.
Ses œuvres récentes s’émancipent du passé pour s’inscrire dans un dialogue plus large entre la figuration et l’abstraction, le visible et l’invisible. La narration picturale devient un espace d’expérimentation où la charge émotionnelle des couleurs, des motifs récurrents et des silences visuels amplifie les tensions qu’elle met en scène. À travers son exposition Chez nous, même le silence est bruyant, Hadni déploie un langage visuel où chaque image est un fragment de mémoire, réassemblé dans une dynamique d’émancipation.

À l’occasion de son exposition personnelle, “ Chez nous, même le silence est bruyant “ , présentée à la galerie African Arty du 13 février au 31 mars 2025. Yasmine Hadni articule un parcours qui se regarde, s’écoute et se ressent à travers un ensemble composé de peintures, de sérigraphies et d’une pièce sonore.
Son œuvre est bordée par sa vie, inscrite dans son histoire. Consciencieuse, l’artiste ne va cesser de revenir sur ses pas, de ne pas reculer. Elle est sur deux fronts à la fois. Celui du rapport à soi et du rapport à l’autre. C’est l’enfance et son emprise sur la construction de nos personnalités qu’elle laboure. C’est aussi l’altérité au sein de sa famille et dans le cadre plus élargi de la bourgeoisie marocaine qu’elle explore.
C’est avec une voix faite des deux réunis qu’elle crée « une autre réalité » où les scènes d’enfance et les scènes de famille dominent. Elle met introspection personnelle et commentaire social, dedans et dehors, au diapason, à travers la fiction de l’autobiographie.

Lors de l’exposition du Tanger Print Club à Thinkart, nous avons eu l’honneur de discuter avec Salma Lahlou, fondatrice de ThinkArt, et Hicham Bouzid, cofondateur et directeur artistique de Think Tanger.
À travers leurs visions, ils ont partagé l’importance des espaces culturels au Maroc et leur rôle dans la promotion de l’art indépendant et des collaborations artistiques, comme celles qui donnent vie aux sérigraphies uniques du Tanger Print Club.
✨ Prochaine étape ? Cette belle initiative fera escale à la 1-54 African Contemporary Art Fair à Marrakech.

Through these tunes, we will explore their influences and hear how their passion for music grew. But this invitation goes beyond just the music! This is a gathering where sharing takes center stage, and what better way to discover new sounds, meet new people, and connect outside of your usual bar or nightlife setting than through food?

Our Guest for this session is @cosmicsou 🤌 He’s is a long time music and records enthusiast spanning many genres from indie rap to deep sounds accross the spectrum. After a decade spent in the club scene in Paris, he is back in his hometown, eager to share his music taste around dancefloors and chillrooms.

We are delighted to announce that Yasmine Hadni has joined the African Arty Family as a represented artist!
Meet Yasmine as we prepare to showcase her work in a solo exhibition opening on 13th February 2025, curated by Salma Lahlou. Stay tuned for more details!
Yasmine Hadni studied at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art Villa Arson in Nice, then earned a master’s degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is primarily a painter, while also exploring other forms of expression including video, drawing, sound and printmaking. Her works, shown at the 1-54 Contemporary Art Fair, reveal a wide range of techniques. Both autobiographical and political in nature, her artistic process deconstructs childhood memories, bearing witness to the social mechanisms of a classic Moroccan family. The societal paradoxes represented in her art can be understood through the lens of a child’s world that is falsely innocent.
In 2024, she was awarded the second prize for the Mustaqbal Prize from Fondation TGCC in Casablanca, Morocco.
