Throwback Friday - just because! The bones of the Shed. Before the candles, the classes, and the community, there was dust, building work, long days and a dream slowly coming to life. Looking at this photo today reminds me that this space is so much more than walls and floors. I always remember that every time I step into it. It’s the people who fill it with warmth, friendship, love, laughter and energy every single day. Even behind the scenes, while things are being fixed, cleaned or worked on, there’s always kindness and support flowing through the space. 🧘🏽Classes that may support Mental Wellbeing & Anxiety Relief….. Yin: Tuesday 6.15pm, Sunday 6.15pm Slow down, soften and reset. Long, supported holds encourage deep release in both body and mind, helping to calm the nervous system, ease stress and create space for stillness and reflection. Tai Chi: Monday 8am, Wednesday 8am Grounding movement for balance and calm. Slow, strengthening sequences and mindful breath help cultivate focus, presence, emotional balance and a sense of inner steadiness. Breathe & Space: Tuesday 7.30am Space to breathe, unwind, and reconnect. Breathwork and mindful movement designed to reduce overwhelm, quiet mental chatter and support clarity, calm, and emotional regulation. Sound & Energy: Thursday 7.45pm Rest deeply and restore inner balance. Immersive sound, meditation and mindful practices invite deep relaxation, helping release tension and encourage emotional ease and nervous system reset. Stretch & Meditation: Tuesday 9.30am Release physical tension and mental load. Purposeful stretching paired with guided meditation supports relaxation, improves mind-body awareness and helps settle an overactive mind. Release & Relax: Wednesday 6.15pm A gentle release for body and mind. Somatic-inspired movement and mindful practices help soothe the nervous system, reduce stored tension and support a greater sense of calm, safety and ease. 🍃Mental Health Awareness week. 🍃 To help with anxiety and overwhelm I give myself, sometimes just five minutes, time to step outside. Five minutes to connect with my breath. Five minutes of quiet (almost). It doesn’t have to be perfect. Even a small pause like this helps me feel more grounded, calms my nervous system and helps me to reconnect with myself and disconnect with the “noise”. One intention (Sankalpa) I return to often is: “ I am peace, I am strength, I am love” This sets me up for whatever I will face in the day ahead. 💛An invitation for Mental Health Awareness Week 💛 At The Shed, we know that mental health isn’t something separate from daily life. It lives in our bodies, our breath, our energy, our relationships and the way we care for ourselves. This week, we remind you that you do not have to do this alone. Support is strength. Community is powerful. Whether you come to move, breathe, sweat or simply be around kind people for an hour, our space is here for you. Take a moment this week to check in with yourself and with the people around you. A message, a walk, a class, it’s these small acts of care that matter more than we realise. Be gentle with yourself and if there’s someone you care for who needs to come to class please bring them along. State “Awareness Week” when you come in- whether it’s for a friend or you’re first visit- come along and have a free class this week. The last ten years certifications and yoga trends have changed drastically. At The Shed we’re proud to stand for depth, understanding, experience and integrity. Our teaching team is built on decades of dedicated practice and study, with roots in Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha, breathwork, Yoga therapy, meditation and traditional yogic philosophy. Many of our teachers trained through the British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance accredited schools, while others have studied extensively with respected teachers across the UK, India and Europe. At The Shed, yoga is taught with substance. Grounded in knowledge, lineage, experience and continued learning. We believe yoga should be accessible, welcoming and taught with skill, care and respect for the practice.
