Mike Mansfield is a musician and singer from Rathcoole, Dublin. Raised in a musical household, he was introduced to traditional Irish music at an early age by his father, Niall Mansfield, and began playing guitar at seven. Over the years, he took up the fiddle, mandolin, and bouzouki, with the mandolin becoming his main instrument alongside singing. He studied traditional music at Ballyfermot College of Further Education and later at the University of Limerick, becoming involved in Dublin’s trad scene through sessions and local folk clubs. During this time, he played with a number of groups, including Coille, Wickerlight, and the folk-rock band Bog Bodies, and has performed throughout Ireland, the UK, Canada, Kenya, and several European countries. In 2025, Mike began playing with Stephen Gormley, forming his current project, The Well Below. 📸 @tivodar

Next up - band member in @thewellbelow is the mighty @dalemckay_music Dale McKay is a multi-instrumentalist from Portlaoise and has been playing music since the age of 11. In 2014, Dale won the Senior All-Ireland Bodhrán Championship and later graduated from the University of Limerick with a BA in Irish Traditional Music Studies in 2017. Since then, he has toured and performed internationally with productions such as Celtic Legends and Rhythm Of The Dance, performing across Europe, South America, China, and Russia. Dale has collaborated with the Kristyn Fontanella Dance Company on contemporary dance productions InLimbo and The Competition. In 2017, he discovered the handpan and later formed Harpanno, releasing their debut album Finding Calm in 2022. Dale also sings and plays guitar with Buíoch, whose second album is due for release soon. He has also played drums with Bog Bodies and Caoimhín. Alongside performing, Dale is active in festival programming, curating the Forest Fleadh Stage at Forest Fest for several years and founding Portlaoise Tradfest in 2023. The Well Below. - Introducing the band. 🎶 First up - Stephen Gormley @stephengormleymusic from @moon_looks_on , guitarist, singer songwriter plays little bit of banjo and bodhran. Recorded a few albums as Moon Looks On and works as a full time gigging musician with a little bit of teaching on the side guitar and bodhran.
