𝐴𝑅𝐴𝐶𝐻𝑁𝐸𝑃𝐻𝐼𝐿𝐼𝐴! 🕸️ This collection is a re-imaging of the ancient myth of Arachne, traditionally told as a cautionary tale warning against hubris, wherein the goddess Athena challenges the mortal to a weaving contest. Not only does Arachne prove she is the more talented weaver, but she calls out the gods by weaving a tapestry depicting the many ways they abuse their power. Like many fearless femmes throughout history, Arachne is punished for her audacity, as Athena transforms her into a spider. In making this collection, I set out to reclaim Arachne’s story, hailing her as a hero for her defiance against the oppressive gods and her assertion of her own creative agency. It is a celebration of unapologetic femme/queer creative and sexual energy, and refusal to bow down to authority– except to the domme within.⚔️
