Yes the rumours are true! We’re under new management!
The team behind The River Exe Cafe are in! Some familiar faces (not all!). Different setting, and something totally new, just for us here at The Turf.
We had hoped to be opening in March but we’ve had a series of serious set backs not least of which Mother Nature unleashing storm after storm on our little corner of the Southwest.
The access roads to the car park have been closed. We’ve had a very large RSPB tree down. Our pontoon got a little wiggly and then went for a wander all by itself and the marquee, well it’s no longer a marquee.
Never to be defeated we’ve taken all the work indoors for the moment - and you’re going to see some changes when we reopen. Not just in what we look like but in menu, what’s on and more.
We’re excited to share this with you all and plan, at the moment, to reopen on May 8th this year. If that changes we will let you know on here!

“The Turf Ferry” — yes, you heard it here first! 🚤🍻
We officially have our very own ferry, and soon we’ll be offering pick-ups and drop-offs from around the river, carrying up to 34 passengers at a time.
We won’t be up and running for a few weeks yet as we are waiting for our new BBQ’s to arrive but watch this space 🥰

We’re still learning, and this is very much us finding our own way with it.
We know how much the bird boards meant to people, and how loved they were.
What we’re sharing here is shaped by what we’ve learned from those very boards, and our hope is to gently bring our own version of that spirit back to life. In a way that feels right for the Turf now.
