After doing over 1,000 Weddings This is what I’ve learnt … Don’t try to skimp on the getting ready time!! It will only create a pressured feel to the morning. .. You need to create wiggle room! Start at the proposed ceremony time Then work backwards .. How long will it take to travel to the venue? When does your photographer need you dressed by? etc. If you have large numbers .. are planning a first look? .. a ceremony before 2pm? .. or a cooked breakfast before you start your glam booking? Be prepared for an early wake up! Sometimes I hear Brides even push their ceremony later, after doing the maths so they can create more buffer & a more relaxed flow. Remember, even if we have an hour per service (Ie. 1 service = 1 hairstyle) We will still be moving swiftly, so do as much as possible before the morning so you can enjoy the getting ready process. For example: If your ceremony is at 3pm Hairstyling for x5 of you starts at 8am 1 hour per person time slot + plus set up + touch up time Wake up Time 7:30am Finished by 2pm *Allow 6 hrs + Every Makeup Artist & Hairstylist may be different. & They will provide you with a run-sheet But this gives you a broad idea of how quickly that time can be eaten up! I hope this is helpful if you’re in the early stages of deciding on a ceremony time! If you have fine, babysoft hair that has a mind of its own? .. the Half-Up style in any shape or form will be your best friend on your wedding day! Honestly, there’s a reason it’s one of the most requested styles for any member of the wedding party, season upon season! Often I will manage expectations too, by explaining that if your hair is uncoloured, fine & straight naturally .. Then even a wave with all of the correct prep. & product may still fall by the end of the night.
