Lilford Road - Feature in the Architects Journal
Completed in 2023, this project involved the redevelopment of an existing residential site in Camberwell, creating 2 new 3-storey houses. What can’t be seen on site is the 3m Thames Water strategic sewer which passes directly below the site. As part of the structural design, The Structure Studio engaged with Thames Water to carry out impact assessments on the existing assets during construction & in the proposed case. The reinforced concrete raft foundation proposed allows the construction to be largely traditional above ground, albeit with the flare and elegance that Studio HANDS envisioned. See the last slide for a section through the site showing the proximity of the sewer beneath the building.

We had the pleasure of heading down to the newly opened @d.oyly.s last week!
Situated on a private island, accessible only by footbridge or boat, this new Cafe & Bar boasts an amazing vantage point over the River Thames for a cocktail, beer or tasty treat.
We’re glad to have played a small part in making this a reality! We continue to work with the @parti.studio and the owners of the island on their grand plans for renovating & restoring the listed Eyot House, which is situated on the island.

Things starting to shape up nicely on our project in Burgess Hill. This is a part 1-storey & part 2-storey, vertical extension to an existing commercial building which is being converted to residential. The works have been structured and sequenced such that the commercial unit, to the rear, remains open throughout the works. 👷🏻♂️
