2 reasons we wanted to do a follow up to the B**wig video that’s somehow now has millions of views two years in a row!!
1st is because we had a TON of detail questions on how to make it… so we wanted to show you that there’s really not much to it. :)
The ratio is 2 parts cottage cheese to 1 part flax oil, and in tablespoons Ryder does for himself 4 to 2. That’s a decent serving for an adult as well, or you could bump it up to 6 to 3 or even 8 to 4 depending on how big you want to go.
The biggest things to look for in the cottage cheese is that it’s grass fed & organic, and minimally processed.
And for flax oil, you want organic, cold pressed, in glass, and to be “that guy” (or gal) at the grocery store who digs through the whole shelf to find the furthest out expiration date. ;)
Dairy alternatives can be found with an internet search, the main thing you’re looking for is a high sulfur containing food such as egg whites…
but anything besides quark or cottage cheese is NOT what has the history and thousands of people saying it’s helped them behind it.
Many people with dairy sensitivities find that something to do with the reaction that takes place between the nutrients enables them the handle Bud*** just fine.
2nd - is that we ALWAYS want to emphasize, that no “one thing” is going to be the silver bullet to healing!!
Ever since Ryder was diagnosed stage four almost ten years ago, we’ve sought out EVERYTHING with a long track record and good science behind it…
But we weren’t about to bet our son’s life on one or two things in particular just because they had a good story behind them.
Chronic conditions are also a lot more intense than they were 100 years ago due to the ever increasing toxicity in the world…
So what may well have worked great to get a good number of people back into balance back then, now just isn’t going to be enough on its own in most cases.
Healing has to be a comprehensive approach removing all the bad and adding all the good you can over a variety of different factors…
But this one has definitely stood the test of time for us in the good category and Ryder still loves it as part of his wellness and prevention routine!!
ALWAYS remember - there are no studies on YOU.
No matter what kind of prognosis you’re given, or what you’re told you’ll have to live with, or what is or isn’t possible…
all the data the conventional medical system has…
is based mostly on people following their nutritional advice (or lack thereof) and eating the Standard American Diet…
NOT ridding themselves of all the toxicity of the modern world…
NOT radically changing their lifestyle…
NOT working with the best integrative & holistic doctors they can find…
and most importantly, people who ARE letting themselves BELIEVE AND FEAR whatever the system tells them.
The path of least resistance today - living the way society and tells us we’re supposed to…
may SEEM like less work at first.
But the more work we put in questioning EVERYTHING, and usually doing the exact opposite of what we’re told…
the better our lives get as a result.
And of course, the biggest reward for that is seeing Ryder living his passions, skiing, mountain biking, jiu jitsu, spending time in nature, and with his chickens…
and thinking back to being in that room, seeing the results of that first MRI…
being told what the outcome would likely be, and what we “had” to do.
Whatever it is you’re going through, take in as much information and advice from varying sources as you possibly can…
but at the end of the day, only YOU know what’s best for you.
And above all, just keep going.
Because the only way out, is through.

The basic Budwig diet formula was one of our most viewed videos of 2023!
The formula is a two to one ratio of cottage cheese to flaxseed oil mixed for about a minute with an immersion blender.
The optimal daily intake is 6 tablespoons of cottage cheese and 3 tablespoons of flax oil with a tablespoon of freshly ground up flax seeds stirred in.
We have found it to be super kid friendly and enjoy it with fresh berries on top 😋
A few more technical notes to keep in mind…
It’s usually recommended in the Budwig Diet that the cottage cheese be low-fat (either 1% or 2%) because it mixes slightly better with the oil, but if whole milk is all that’s available that’s certainly fine as well.

11 years ago and 11 days before his first birthday the trajectory of our lives changed forever when Ryder was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer.

Consider also that naturally in the entire body, there is a 2600 to 1 ALA to DHA ratio.
So when you hear about how terrible the body is at converting ALA to DHA, the flip side of that argument is that it converts all it needs just fine…
It just actually NEEDS a lot more ALA.

I never thought I’d be saying this… but ChatGPT may have literally just saved my life.
A few weeks after knee surgery, I started feeling off. My heart was racing, I was exhausted, and I was short of breath. But the pain wasn’t in my chest—it was in my shoulder. 🤔
At first I brushed it off, because I was in a lot of pain in general and figured this was just one more thing…
but the longer it stayed, the more I knew something wasn’t right.
We’ve been asking AI about all sorts of health things and been getting really great answers (for now at least!)…
so I asked ChatGPT about my symptoms…
The response was “Go to the ER NOW.” :)
Took me a minute at first to take it seriously, but then I started thinking about the pain in my ankle I’d been having earlier, combined with its definition of blood clot / pulmonary embolism symptoms…
and was on my way to the ER. :)
The doctor said this is a black and white “you need a CT scan” situation…
which we weren’t excited about given the cancer history with our son and everything we know about the radiation and contrast…
but thankfully we went through with it because they found multiple blood clots in my lungs!!
(Now cleaning up the radiation and heavy metals.) :)
The doctor told me that if I’d waited much longer that it would have been fatal.
Guessing this will probably be like Google and get watered down at some point, but given the healthcare system and the state that it’s in…
for now at least it’s been an extremely helpful tool in getting better answers for these sorts of things than anything else we’re used to!
This continues to be one of the biggest problems of our time!!
Although sadly it has a lot of competition for the “biggest problem” title when it comes to things making us sick. :/
Hopefully, with things changing glyphosate and chemicals like it won’t continue to be sprayed all over our beautiful country much longer…
but even if that ends up being the case, it will still take years or even decades for it to leave the food / water supply and soils!!
