So honored to introduce “Blooming” on #FrontStreetWalls this piece is something special. It’s apart of my floral series. A series that started about 3 years after I had my daughter. During those times I didn’t paint on canvas in 3 years. I was still copping with being a mom the pandemic and just life in general. I had to sit in those moments and just be and focus on the new Iris.
“Blooming” Is a self portrait and a love letter to myself, creatives and to people in general that if you going through tough times don’t be so hard on yourself and to give yourself grace and allow yourself to grow. Give yourself flowers during the good times as well as the tough times.
I want to thank @streetsdeptwalls@conradbenner and @muralarts for this amazing opening! This was my first mural. It was a great experience working along other talented after. Also thank you to the mural arts assistants @postedwithgrace and @m.scooot for all of the help and support.
My mural is located at 1601 N Front street! #THESEPINKLIPS 💋

Meet this week’s #1 artist, @thesepinklips founder Iris Barbee Bonner. A Philadelphia-born artist and graphic designer, Iris blends personal history, music, and cultural pride into work that proves creativity can live on any surface.
This sculpture celebrates Philadelphia’s place in music history as the home of the first American-made piano and the world’s first sousaphone. From ivory keys to booming brass, the city of harmony helped shape the way America experiences music.
For Iris, the piano is deeply personal. Having played from age five through college, music has always been part of her creative expression.
