“Angels in America” is a photographic series aimed at documenting the dignified spirit, realities, and inherent divinity in the lives of Black women who continue to carve out their spaces in a society that often marginalizes them.
The project aims to communicate the resilience and serenity of Black women using realism and surrealism, honoring our presence as vital components of the American sociocultural landscape—in our divine, angelic form.
The project, lightly inspired by Tony Kushner’s play titled “Angels in America,” plays on the celestial metaphor to elevate Black women to a realm that transcends the societal impositions placed on us.
