Sunday simmer, forgaging and frolicking for lunch 🍀
Ahead of this month’s
@radioreverb food and drink show with
@tastyradiobrighton , Karen and I enjoyed an early start, finding wild garlic in the woods, followed by a garden treasure hunt on this month’s theme #banginsomebeans 🫕 from an important
@food.foundation initiative
I keep miso in the fridge and beans in the larder ready for a speedy lunch time meal. Today’s bold beans are a
@riverford delivery treat. The
@happy_gut_co family will tell us how they power up snacks & meals with the humble but brilliant 🤩bean🤩
Beans, pulses, legumes, lentils are absolute power houses of nutrition but they do need a bit of help from their friends to boost flavour. This time of year our surroundings in Sussex are full of bargain hunt goodies - three cornered leeks might be a weed or nettles a nuisance but my goodness they are delicious and FREE!!
With our
@chomp_brighton families, we get people picking, chopping and choosing their lunch to connect with the process of feeding ourselves. Even the most resistant youngsters (and their parents) will try things they have the chance to make friends with 1st. Feeling so pleased and proud of what they’ve made 🙌🏾
Being a pack-herd creature, we do love to join in, making what in the therapy kitchen we call a ‘community casserole’ for all to enjoy. Beans are always willing to help out and love being part of the party!
Humans love a bargain, so beginning our treasure hunt in our local woods, a trip through the garden and behind the studio, we gathered the bits and pieces we needed for a simply delicious lunch to share, along with plenty of time to plan our shows ahead and we have so much for you to feast on! I made some
@samuelwgoldsmith inspired scones to go with our soup, packed full of ground protein packed seeds… delicious
Come and join us for an afternoon of conversation, ideas and stories at 2pm (repeated throughout the month) on 97.2fm
