💬 Tell me below - What's the best advice you can give to someone who has never been to a conference or retreat before? After 30+ photography conferences. USA. UK. New Zealand. All across Australia. And the one thing that has never changed across all of them? You always need a plan. Most photographers show up buzzing with excitement and leave feeling like they didn't quite get everything out of it. Not because the event was bad. Because nobody told them how to show up properly. I've been going to industry events for over 20 years - the Baby Summit, The Event, The Hair of the Dog, APPAs, and a whole lot more. I know what it feels like to walk in knowing nobody. And I know what it feels like to walk in and know everyone. Here's what actually makes the difference: - Arrive with a plan - know what you want before you walk in - Introduce yourself first - don't wait on the sidelines - Don't try to learn everything - pick two or three ideas and go deep - Talk to suppliers properly - real questions, not just freebies - Stay after sessions - the hallway conversations have the gold - Come home with ONE action - a deadline and someone to tell One great strategy implemented properly beats 40 pages of notes sitting in your phone until 2028.
