DONE-ish! The short scale baritone Jaguar with piezo lives! Still some adjusting to do but so far, so good. There’s a little bit of fret sprout on the neck that I should smooth out. I feel like I already want to swap out the capacitor for something brighter. I put the preamp in mono mode, but the piezo still gets buried despite the preamp. And I think I need to raise the bass side of the bridge a little to eliminate some fret buzz. I love these red Vintage Forge speed knobs. I don’t know what happened to that company but I loved their products. I got the knobs years ago and I’m glad I did while I was still able. The Duesenberg Les Trem is awesomely smoooooooooth. As always, the Freeway Switch and TESI killswitch are super reliable products. The Lomic Guitars pickguard has been getting compliments since the first pic I posted. It looks just how imagined it would on this thing. The Stringjoy custom gauge strings are exactly what I needed to make this thing into a baritone without a conversion neck. Last note for now is that I’d originally picked up a set of carbon fiber plates on eBay probably three years ago and ultimately ended up making my own to fit the preamp and the switch. Let me know what you think of them. Realization: the FranKOIstein Jaguarillo’s clean tones sound great with the amp turned up just a little bit. You can’t hear the nuance of the 10 positions unless you dial it up a bit. When you do, it’s beautiful. Really impressed with these GFS pickups. Guitar sounds great with distortion and fuzz, too!

Bye HQ!

It’s literally been years since I worked in a full-time capacity at Sofar. But the connections with my former co-workers, the artists, the music, and the Sofar concept never ended. Last night was the final show at the Boston HQ location. Amazing shows will continue in Boston, but this space where I spent so much time has been subleased to new tenants. @asebourn was incredibly kind to welcome so many ex-Sofarians back to celebrate the time we had in the office with one last show featuring an awesome line-up. One of our old crew even flew in from California for the event. We toasted, in questionable tradition, with @jeppsonsmalort . In small victory, I succeeded in suppressing #MalortFace Much love to Paul Willis, The Far Out, and especially Sneaky Miles who share a special love of Boston HQ and Dragon Pizza!

So so so excited to see you, @newconstellationsmusic ! You were @nxjddinsineibsoncoslsn ‘s first concert!

I hope this isn’t sacrilege, but I swapped out the Mustang barrels on this bridge for these brass ones I had laying around. I hate to change the original @friendsofrichiesguitarshop vision, but I do like that the strings are less prone to slipping now.

In Nashville for a conference. Made a friend from Washington state. Sat at a table with two unrelated couples from Detroit and a couple from Arizona/Atlanta. The @bluebirdcafetn and the artists exceeded my expectations beyond belief. I consider myself soooooooo privileged to have been there. Thank you everyone! AND THEN after the show Deb the bartender played “She’s in Parties” by Bauhaus and “Blue Monday” by New Order!!! Top three music experience in my life.

Such a fun night to return to Sofar as a first-time MC instead of VP of Analytics & Insights! Props to all of the MCs I’ve had the pleasure of seeing before who make it look so easy; you inspire me to do better the next time. @mollyolearymusic , your voice is SOOOO GOOD and I can’t wait to nerd out about gear when I eventually visit @kittycastlenewbedford . Your whole set was amazing. And I think you may be only the second Sofar artist whose vocals I have described as “buttery.” Thank you @bludot for hosting! The vibes were genuinely one of the best of all the shows I’ve experienced. Your Boston and LA peeps in attendance are the best! Props to @redbull for supporting this Dry January show. I think there may be several attendees who had a hard time getting to sleep last night from all the Red Bull they consumed, though. @originalmusicleague , half of my league regulars showed up to support the artists last night, many meeting each other for the first time in person. Your product and Sofar are great examples of community-building with music. @asebourn , thank you for trusting me to give me a shot and answering all of my many many questions. I love what you’re doing with @sofarboston ! @rafeoffer , after YEARS of talking about doing it, I finally did it. So many first-timers talked to me about how special it was that Sofar makes artists and their music the focus again in a live setting. Thought you’d be happy to hear that.

I got my wish! I finally took my kid to a concert! And I’m so happy it was PVRIS coming home to Boston!

I love that @letters_to_cleo comes back before Thanksgiving every year! Matching t-shirts were great! @theeisenstein figuring out how to play Come On in real time on stage was great! Pre-show meal at @buttermilkbourbon was great! Let’s do it again next year, @rebecca.millerr !
