Summer camp is back… and it’s about to get very strange. This summer, Sleepaway Camp: The Midnight Mass Experience is hitting the road! Peaches Christ will be joined by Angela herself Felissa Rose and her Midnight Mass co-host Michael Varrati for a one-night-only event that starts with a live show and ends with the film that traumatized a generation. Expect a drag performance, an onstage conversation, an ‘80s Camp Costume Contest, and a room full of fans losing their minds together before we roll the movie on the big screen. Instead of opening the Eat the Rich conversation at the Commonwealth Club with a drag number, I decided to try something different and perform a sermon. It felt like the right way to begin a night about power, money, and the systems that shape our lives. Less razzle dazzle, more confession booth. When I got home, I realized I wanted to record it and share it. It’s basically a big download of a lot of what I’ve been thinking about lately. Fair warning, it’s long and definitely not optimized for the short attention span content social media usually demands. But sometimes it feels good to slow down and actually say the whole thing. I’m continually blown away by what Mama Celeste @mamacelestefanclub and Beatrix LaHaine @beatrixlahaine have built with Oaklash.
