This is for the future of Oxnard. If you are a local artist or resident who… 🍓is sick and tired of our current arts and culture institutions and government’s lack of transparency with process and budget and consistent prioritization of outside artists over local artists 🍓doesn’t trust that our current city and nonprofits will prioritize the needs of local artists 🍓wants a different kind of arts and culture: that involves and prioritizes the needs of local BIPOC artists and intentionally acts differently than the extractive, capitalist, Eurocentric art world. 🍓is seeking like-minded arts and culture community who care about supporting the artist-run and grassroots movements not historically white institutions. …Then we encourage you: share this post. Ask questions. Reach out and join us in this shared inquiry and collective problem solving. This is far from over and we cannot do this alone. If you go to the mural dedication, we encourage you to keep asking questions and live the values that colaboyy says: “all power to the people”

It is with heavy heart that I share this news. Our friend and collaborator Raul Villalobos has passed. A gofundme has been set up by family in his honor, link in bio. DM me a screenshot of your donation and I’ll mail you one of the zines we put together. We had talked about making a follow up to this zine, unfortunately it never happened…he had a story too big to capture. I am grateful for the little piece we got to document from the immense knowledge and culture of Raul Villalobos. Enjoy a little piece of Raul’s favorite memories, and Monickers from riding the rails. I’ll miss you Raul. Praying for you and your family.
