So this isn’t the typical post I make and I wanted to include a level of transparency that I’ve seen other stylists take with their work •
• We’re all human, and we may not hit the mark every single time. I was absolutely blessed to have had this experience with such an amazing and understanding client. The second photo was their goal, a very muted mauve with a cool pink hue. I figured it would be super straight forward but the 3rd photo was my first attempt. NOW LEMME SAY, they absolutely ate it up in that color but it wasn’t correct and we both knew it. Luckily they gave me another shot at doing it. This color challenged me and really made me think.
• At one point I consulted Tara from Cosmoprof, a color specialist of over 2 decades because sometimes we just need a bit of guidance. It’s normal to make mistakes and I really respect seeing service providers of all kinds talk about how they handle it when it happens. I ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS want you guys to give me your genuine feedback. It means the world to me and helps me grow as a stylist. I strive to create an environment where you can tell me when you don’t like something because I know how hard it is to do that.
• Thankfully Rena allowed me to do their color again, can’t stress enough how grateful I am for that. Come to find their hair was more porous than I anticipated which affected the way color grabbed, my lighting was affecting how the color looked when I mixed it and the undertones weren’t mixed accordingly. This experience was eye opening and helps me move forward as a better artist.
• Their second color was entirely comped as well as a style, if there is ever an issue with a service you were given PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me as soon as you can, I’ll never be mad :) and thank you to all of you guys who help make it happen, I really appreciate yall
