Original Grinds, located at 615 Caroline Street in downtown Fredericksburg, is a café, vegan bakery, art gallery, and live-music venue that serves as a creative home for artists, musicians, and makers. The space offers specialty coffee, espresso drinks, and plant-based baked goods alongside rotating art exhibits, weekly open-mic nights, and sober-venue live shows. Founded to foster collaboration and accessibility in the arts, Original Grinds brings people together through shared creativity and community support.
Original Grinds is the Fredericksburg Arts Commission’s Spotlight Gallery for November and participates in @fxbgfirstfriday , showcasing new artwork and local talent each month.

The home we built at Katora Coffee didn’t just change the town, it changed all of our lives. When we heard about the bankruptcy, we immediately got to work and came up with a plan to save the shop at 615 Caroline Street. Thanks from the constant support from the Zammas’ and our landlord Sophia, Ethan and I purchased the bones of Katora, the espresso machine, the stage, and everything else we could. We have been well underway overhauling the space into something new, while preserving Katora’s mission of inclusivity and creativity. Ethan and I’s new business is called Original Grinds, but you can call it OGs for short. We’ll be releasing more updates soon as they develop on our new page @ogsfxbg .

Introducing BREAKING BANNED- A special poetry night event happening this First Friday, March 6th at 8pm. The Federal Government has a growing list of words they’re censoring, words like abortion, diversity, lgbtq, women, and solar power. Poets are encouraged to come prepared with poems inspired by the banned words list. We’ll have three judges, including local Poet Robin Barre, and the winner will get a prize and their poem featured on the wall.

In addition to Breaking Banned, @davimcclung_music will be busking and local artists @creepy_creeptures and @theonlyjig will be tabling with their art.
