Walking to Scotland ticked off haha. 268 miles (140 of them solo), 3 national parks, 9 counties and non stopšŖš¼. only one to finish. Post 1/3 probably
Pembroke. Another good trip with the club. Sea cliff climbing truly is something else. Mixed feelings for me, combination of injury and knock to confidence I found myself with doubts on pretty much every climb I got on, on grades that shouldāve been a breeze. But just part of the process I suppose, canāt always understand why. Had an awesome few days by the sea nevertheless š«”
Font 26. Cheers to all who were a part of it. Had a such an amazing time even if it did take my second favourite ankle. Youāre all legends šŖš¼ - shout out @m.louis2004 for hunting down the barefoot boulders with me all week. the best boulders in the forest arenāt the hardest but the ones you do in a pair of shorts and nothing more fuelled by a chunk of Gouda in the back pocket
Wings Of Unreason E4 6a - what a move! sorta scuffed the start but we got up it š . I arrived to the foot of the route after slogging up the hill to realise we had left rope and helmet in the car. I decided to just try the boulder at the start (naughty). Ended up getting past it so I soloed to the pocket. In a fleeting moment of madness I contemplated going for the jump on solo but my mate ushered some sense into me. With light fading I ran down the hill to collect my stuff and ran back up. Still out of breath I pulled on. All went well. it wasnāt the cleanest but great to tick off this one thatās been on my list for a while. (That oneās for you Abbie!)
Parallel Piped E3 5c - (flash) Itās a straight forward line and a good shout for a first e3 if slabs are your thing. Definitely harder for the short as youād need an extra step to reach the flake.
Long Johns Slab E3 5c. (Onsight/flash). Numb fingers and very painful shoes. Made a meal of it if Iām honest š. Oh well Iāll come back and get a cleaner lap next time. Iād rather climb it terribly than hit the deck š
Four Pebble Slab E3 5c - little bit of padding up a slab to start the day. (Onsight/flash). Had borrowed shoes that are about a size too big which added to the spice
Italian Right hand IV, 4. Cool line but with some thawing overnight a lot of the ice wouldnāt take adequate screws which meant some super runouts. Definitely felt plenty involved after so many days on the trot in winter. After some complications with our ab we ended up spending considerable time in some strong winds trapped on some tat half way up the gully which was unfortunate after a smooth ascent. Another quality day on the Ben and the last for this Scotland trip. Also shout out @sean_howard02 for letting me eat his icecream
