For us, Mark was part of the DNA of The Night Temple. He was part of the opera that began the idea and composed and performed at the first night we held in our apartment. He composed pieces for six events and came to almost every event. He was a titan of personality, humor, sensitivity, sarcasm and genuine care. His talent was gut wrenchingly moving and beautiful and totally unique. Like us, he appreciated the live experience of music and he delivered magic every single time he performed.
We’re dedicating this Saturday’s string night to our wonderfully sweet and talented friend Mark @mythsmaker . With performances from his dear friend @alisonlewismusic and his former students and friends @biskupkaa and @tfranco_music , wonderful composers @tylerstrickland with Mark’s friend @cathjoymusic conducting and @toynejeff and music by Mark with guest players @adrianneduncan and @mantylacomposer plus hosts @carisa_bianca_mellado and @andrew_dalziell

In 2022, Mark joined our band on piano for a show that would be the first incarnation of the night temple. After a 2 and a half year hiatus with. our band, Night Tongue, we finally decided to make the move to start playing again. We had our plan to start a regular residency at our space every couple of Tuesdays starting tonight. Then Mark passed away, shocking us all, leaving a horrible hole in our lives and we almost cancelled. But it turns out that music is still the best remedy for us, so we’ll be at The Night Temple playing our first ever show with a new lineup. Our full new lineup is @carisa_bianca_mellado@andrew_dalziell@ellehaertofficial@nick_soole_music@coreyvogeln and Luke Janela. One of Mark’s colleagues @mattpipermusic will be playing some experimental ambient soundscapes to open. This will be a low key night of dark, dreamy music.
I took these photos last year, and I remember Mark telling me, “So, are you gonna be the photographer today?” I answered, “Yes, Mark.”
He smiled and said, “Well, I hope you make me look good!” I laughed.
He was a special part of this community.
You will be deeply, deeply missed, Mark 🤍 🕊️
