It’s so hard to believe our beloved friend
@mythsmaker is gone. He was a brilliant and inspiring composer and musician, loved by the whole community. A vibrant, joyful human, loyal and generous friend with a mischievously fun sense of humor and a heart of gold. His love for music and his family and friends cannot be overstated…he was always gifting vinyl, sharing hidden gems, and lifting up everyone around him.
I knew Mark for most of the past decade through the SCL and composer community, but I was especially lucky to get to know him as a true friend during the last year and a half, beginning at a difficult time in my life. He was a huge comfort to me, always making me laugh, and quickly became one of my favorite people to see at events, go on hikes and enjoy fancy beverages with, always accompanied by stimulating and ridiculously hilarious conversations.
I always looked forward to catching up at Night Temple in “Mark’s corner,” meeting up for “turtle time” in Griffith Park, and talking about music and life. He always had the silliest nicknames for me, but after sharing his love for Megadeth, he landed on “BeccaDeth,” while I called him “MegaMark,” among other things. He loved words and was a wellspring of knowledge and ideas. I could go on forever with the Mark-isms.
Like so many of us who were deeply and profoundly impacted by him, I miss you dearly, Mark. This doesn’t feel real. You had so much more life and music in you. I’m so heartbroken and in shock over tragically losing you far too soon. We were all so blessed to have you in our lives and we will cherish our memories of you forever. Thank you for the gorgeous music and your beautiful, genuine spirit. Fly high, my dear friend. Love you, Mark. 💔💫🕊️
