Slán leat (meaning “goodbye” in Irish and directly translating to “safe with you”) is an installation confronting grief, loss, and the complex experiences of those forced to say goodbye.
.
.
.
The original project began as a woodblock print that has moved through a layered process; photographs taken of the print were animated, projected, photographed again, digitally printed, plexiglass monotyped, and screenprinted. I invited you to see these and newer works in a new installation environment.

Grief is ever present, now more than ever; the object of this installation is to provide a safe space to confront the disorienting feelings that come with it. After loss those who remain are left to carry the weight of goodbye.
Hopefully this space offers viewers a chance to process their experiences, or to simply be.

Friends of friends rolling through town… billy woods (@armandhammernyc )will be selling and signing limited edition vinyl copies of both GOLLIWOG and gowillog in advance of his show. Come through yourself!
A before and after; only 2,900 copies of Landscape Issue 4 remain @themirrorlab . Want to help with the final push to get these stories of neighbors struggles, hope, and hard work out into the Third Precinct Patrol Zone? DM us and we can work on getting you a bundle to distribute.
Over the summer we’ve been talking with our neighbors.
For anyone who has lived on the Southside, close to East Lake, the long legacy of the Third Precinct is a norm, a common understanding. For those who live further out in the patrol zone, closer to Minnehaha Creek, their experiences might be different, fainter. However understood, however unconscious, this divide is not benign. It is the divide that power understands, manipulates, and mechanizes to pit neighbors against one another.
Over the summer we’ve been gathering stories of this divide.
We’ve considered how in daylighting this distance and its effects, we might begin the process of redeveloping the former precinct site as a space of collective understanding and transformation; for the building itself, and for the neighborhood in full.
These portraits by our friend and collaborator in this work, TJ Turner, are the faces of our friends and neighbors. Just a small portion. They represent only the beginning of the story. A story that the City does not want any of us to discuss. It is a story of violence, of anxiety and trauma, and it is also a story of hope and the possibility of true cooperation and care.
Help us share these stories this weekend, Nov. 1-2 from 10am - 2pm at Mirror Lab (3400 Cedar Ave.) where we will have 10,000 copies of issue #4 of our neighborhood focused publication Landscape. Help us move these neighborhood stories around so that we might, finally, begin the process of a from-below democratic redevelopment of the Third Precinct; a true democracy center. DRKRM presents Pop_up002: “Bright&Cool” an experimental film screening hosted @themirrorlab In South Minneapolis. Thursday, November 6th, 2025 ~ 7:00-9:00PM.
~
At the beginning of November, a slower rhythm sets in around us. Trees have shed their glowing chlorophyll canopy and we will be seeing our breath more and more in the coming days. We find ourselves wondering why the sky is dark at 6pm? How the water and earth will freeze over in sleet storms, crisp fruiting bodies of sludge. A blank sky that falls, a stippled light that cuts, orange fading to brown to blue. Perhaps in the cold it is easiest to feel the warmth of light shining cool on cold skin.
So we’ve put together a collection of films to welcome this bright and cool time. The screening will include projections of digital, super8, and 16mm films. We’re excited for local artist @anna.clowser to screen her film, Shenandoah Cherry Pie (2022). The remaining programming is shared with other filmmakers we’ve selected: Phil Solomon, Janis Crystal Lipzin, Paul Turano, Markus Maicher, and Kerry Laitala.
$15 suggested donation at door but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Link to pre-purchase tickets is in our bio.
There will also be refreshments and homemade pie for sale 🥧
All funds raised through this event will be used for future DRKRM programming.
