Reilly Miller (@drkrm_mpls , Minneapolis) and Anas Qadamani (Rotterdam) have a conversation following the U.S. Premier of Anas’s Film ā€œThe Elephant and the Roomā€ in Minneapolis. Audience questions from the DRKRM MPLS screening were asked and the two reflected on western media representation of the Global South, process in filmmaking, and how individual and collective histories inform the context in which this film is shown and received today. Thank you Anas šŸ«‚šŸŽžļø

independent programming gives me so much purpose. manifesting a collective ephemera gives me purpose. what is this life if not a shared experience? :::: thank you to every single person who put their hands into this. Thank you Monroe for being you, brilliant and steady. Thank you Sam and Patricia for operating the projectors and handling the films with a precious attention. Thank you Tucker and Kyle for your ever reliable guidance. Sarah, Lilith, Cameron, Madi, Maya, Gloria, August, Vaughn, for your time and support. & Intellephunk for the warehouse space and the sound system, what a transformation of the space it was! :::: To the lovers, friends, and family who came with each other to share this moment… I do this for you. To the filmmakers, who may never know my gratitude, I’m so happy that you found film as a medium, that it beckoned you. Your aliveness is felt through it, felt by others, in corners of the world and in ways you can never know. And that is beautiful. - From Reilly, with love, in Minneapolis.

one week from today we’ll have have Flora-Moon & friends performing and holding space for an open jam. The first hour will be for play, musical and otherwise, & anyone who wants, is allowed to hop on an open instrument. The second hour will be Flora-Moon performing a multi-instrumental live set; arrive to dance and listen deeply. It will be a journey more than anything else. :::: Flora-Moon is a sibling duo, Aubrie and Oliver-Moon. Both baristas at the cafe, they hold it down behind the bar and now they’re stepping out to share something really special with us this Saturday. Winnie & friends will be supporting as well <3 :::: Tickets at the door. $15. 21+ as always. :::: Livestream to watch from home - twitch.tv/discodesque

Many impacts of childhood trauma feel sticky, unshakeable, and isolating. I’m looking to share space with others who were impacted by parental substance abuse, specifically maternal, as it is in my story, with Mother’s Day arriving this weekend. What feels like a deeply vulnerable ask: I want to share aliveness with others in this beautiful city who have stories that rhyme with mine. Let’s grill, eat, sit in the sun, dance, talk or not, journal, play games, read tarot, and exist together on a difficult day. @albe_sanchez27 will be giving the warmest hugs at the hugging booth. Sunday, 5/10. 4:00pm - 7:00pm -Reilly

I’ve been working on a new project called @discodesque over at @discodeathrecords . It’s a live-concert series that takes place after hours in the cafe. It’s a celebration of analog processes. It’s an intimate, small-audience space. It’s a layering of minds and a conduit for sensations. Our Friends, sweet ones: @shes__green played the first @discodesque before leaving on their UK tour. Now, we’re grateful to have two immensely talented electronic synth/live hardware artists from Minneapolis join us for this Saturday 12.13.2025. @blisssxp goes by SƤllhet: a live hardware producer who spans genres from ambient to acid. The name SƤllhet is Swedish for heavenly joy, eternal happiness, nirvana, or simply bliss. @godsdrugs is God’s Drugs. Beloved, multi-hyphenate, live hardware producer and glitch artist. -+-+- All @discodesque shows are live-broadcasted to Twitch from analog hi-8 cameras and fed into a visual modular synthesizer so our broadcast team can perform live glitch-art. We also record every performance onto our AKAI GX-620 reel-to-reel tape recorder so we can old-school archive the recordings and provide each artist with a digitized (from analog) version of their set. Our production team consists of cafe staff and passionate volunteers. All donations from our Twitch live stream go directly to our volunteers and artists. Consider showing them some luvvv. Link to the Twitch live stream is in @discodesque bio. -+-+- Pre-sale tickets are LIVE on the resident advisor app and website. $15 + RA fees ($17.50 total). Tickets also linked to @discodesque bio. We hope to see you ONE WEEK from today! -+-+- discodesque: electronique synthesis Doors 6pm SƤllhet 7pm Godā€˜s Drugs 8:15pm Show end 9:30pm *NO late entries due to the live-nature of the performances. If late, you may enter again at intermission. 21++++ @discodeathrecords @basementlab.mpls

we’re still soaking in the tungsten-glow from Thursday night where we packed out MirrorLab with our *first* experimental film screening. Thank you to all of the QTpies that came to share thoughts, bites of pie, and the experience of viewing film on celluloid. Truly, cannot wait to do this again. ————————— Gratitude to our production team: Producers: Monroe Chumklang and Reilly Miller Bakers: Monroe Chumklang and Maya Modelli Sound: Ryan Dean Projection: Sam Hoolihan Volunteer: Hannah Yang Documentation: Sarah Sampedro Films by: Janis Crystal Lipzin, Sky Hopinka, Anna Clowser, Kerry Laitala, Markus Maicher, Phil Solomon, and Paul Turano. And thank you the @metroregionalartscouncil , for which our programming was supported by their Flexible Support grant. ————————— Our next event is on November 22nd. We’re teaching another caffenol workshop so you can learn how to develop your own black and white film at home. We’ll be posting about that tomorrow morning!
