Gus came to me in a dream last night — lots of kisses and a boop or two. It felt like he was letting me know that “everything is gonna be okay, dad.” Losing both of you so close together has been hard. Take care of each other wherever you are and come visit me anytime you want to say hello. I feel you everywhere.

Please continue to share across your communities and amplifying. The Gofundme link is in my bio and I’ll share it to my story. While it’s impossible to place a number on the immense loss we feel losing my Dad, there are real costs that come with flying nearly 16,000 miles roundtrip to Guam from New York, the inability to work while handling my Dad’s funeral and affairs, and helping my Ma start a new life in California. Maraming salamat po.

A year of many ups and many downs, twists and turns, moments of immense joy followed by moments of immense grief, projects I’m incredibly proud of and people I’ve met along the way who shaped me. The year 2025 will go down as my year of healing and finding my center again. So much happened along this journey around the sun and my heart is full of optimism for what lies ahead in 2026.

Gus - 12/23/2016 to 11/28/2025 He was named after Angus Bowmer, founder of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, a place we held dear in our hearts. Gus loved living in Ashland, Oregon and before too long was the mayor of the town. He was loved by everyone and even made it onstage during a performance of Alice In Wonderland in the Lizzie. He was the furriest company member of @osfashland His favorite game was fetch and he also loved a game we called “where is it?” He was super smart and quickly found whatever object we’d hide for him. Gus was the smartest boy. He learned sit, lay down, roll over, bang bang, speak, stay, leave it, and my personal fave, sit pretty. He learned all this before he was a year old. Gus was also the best snuggler. Morning snuggles with Gus were the best. Gus will be missed. He taught me so much — How to stay present, how to teach, how to heal, how to find joy in every moment. I am so grateful to every person who loved my boy.

This is the first of many posts. I’ve been quiet here mostly bc I’ve been soul searching on the other side of the world. I met @eltiomago over 7 years ago when @lakey.wolff connected Dilia and I. It was always about sharing my platform, my love of dance. Being an artist ambassador for @orphanedstarfish foundation has been one of the most incredible journeys. I’ve been to 6 countries and counting and met the most amazing humans and children. I will never forget this trip. My first time Ever home to the Philippines 🇵🇭. Working with the youth there and then later connecting with friends, family I’ve never met, and @balletphilippines was incredible. Sharing it with @themightymos made it even more special. But truly Cambodia stole my heart. These young trafficked women exhibited the most incredible character. They’ve been dragged through HELL by monsters and yet found trust with us and shared their own cultural dances with me. I will never recover from experiencing dance as a universal language of love when one of the littlest girls of the program got up to share learning her own cultural dance along with me. For a moment the shared power and love eclipsed her past. We smiled. We DANCED. Andy, I am forever grateful for the work you do and allowing me to contribute in my very small way towards the futures and new chapters these children deserve. Moses thank you for saying yes to a passion of mine. Orphaned starfish has a gala in NYC end of October. You will meet the young woman in the last picture dancing with me. Please donate or consider buying a ticket to the party so this work can continue. I hope to raise enough to come back next year and the for many more to come. I wish to connect more in artistry and humanity with my brothers and sisters in Ph :) ~ Rogue ballerina 🩰 💃🏻

Yellow Face was one of the first plays I watched after graduating from conservatory. Francis Jue was in that 2007 production and after the show was gracious enough to chat with a couple of green actors, me and @catherinehkim , on the way to the subway. His kindness struck me that night and I spent years wondering what project would bring us together. It was selfish on my part. I just wanted to be around him, soak up his experience, watch him work up-close. I finally got my chance in Lauren Yee’s Cambodian Rock Band. Always gracious and always kind, and then he’d put on this persona as Duch that scared the shit outta me. Elated is the only way I can describe how it felt to be in the room where it happened when my friend and mentor won a Tony Award for his magnificent work in Yellow Face on Broadway. @francisjueactor I feel seen. You’ve made your entire Asian American community feel seen. What. a. night. My first time at the Tony’s. #TonyAwards2025 #PebbleBar #aapi #yellowface #cambodianrockbandnyc
